Ristorante Antares — Restaurant in Cefalù

Staff were great at accommodating our larger group of 14 and we were seated outside overlooking the beach. However, the waiter who took our order, didn’t write anything down and kept getting our orders wrong. We had to repeat our order 5-6 times. 5 of us (including myself) ordered the pasta with half a lobster. When my food arrived, I found my lobster tail completely hollow/empty. Checking first with the other 4 orders at the table, who had meat in their tails, I showed the waiter that my lobster tail was empty but he waved it off and said it was in the sauce. I didn’t want to make a scene but could see there was no meat through the sauce. The pasta and sauce were good, but essentially I paid for half a lobster i didn’t receive and instead was gaslighted by the staff. Two others at the table didn’t get their mains until the rest of us had finished. Bread and water were supplied without asking and charged. Table service was also a charge and then tips were asked for as well. Out of all of our time in Cefalu, over two separate visits, this meal was the most disappointing purely due to feeling ripped off....

Man lied about the food portions. “Mixed Grilled Vegetables” is 2 small slices of grilled aubergine and another 2 small slices of courgette. Like seriously. Calamari was drier than a nun and had that nasty sour taste you get when the squid is not fresh and the size of the calamaris were tiny. Almost looked like if you took any animals behind, “hole” if you know what I mean, and deep fried it. Should have known better. Man at the front knew a bit too much english. But hey, they are called tourist traps for a reason. Also, my friends pizzas were mid, cheese not melted, bread was wet and floppy. Dominos is better. Describing it as a Sicilian pizza is a long, very very long, winding, almost infinite stretch. Along with that, waiters were rude. I know thats probably an Italian thing but if you are serving food like that, I would expect staff to treat you with a little bit more respect. DO NOT GO HERE. CLASSIC TOURIST TRAP. But the views...

We were here for dinner last night. This review would be much different if the service hadn’t been such a joke. The restaurant was not busy and there were plenty of staff present and just standing around.

Our evening started out great. Ordered our drinks and appetizer, which promptly arrived. Next my husband received his burger. My pasta did not come out. After literally 20 minutes, I finally was able to get the waiter’s attention. He realized my food still hadn’t arrived and went to check. I was just about to tell them to forget it when after another 10-11 minutes, the Carbonara shows up finally. It was hot and had a good flavor.

In the interim, I had ordered another glass of wine. Had to ask for that twice as well. We were nothing but gracious and polite during this Longgg drawn out process. Not sure what the issue was, but we will...
