Bad experience. The food was good, but horrid service. We waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes for our food, which wasn't anything complicated, some pasta and some sardines with potatoes salad. After waiting this long, a lady came and apologized for forgetting to register our order and asked if we speak italian. We said "No" and she preceded in Italian saying that we only waited for 30 minutes. The food came and we didn't really care anymore. The server bought an additional portion of fried potatoes and we thought it was a way to compensate the long waiting time. After we finished our food the lady came back with some "homemade" liquor on the house. We asked the server for the check and he said ok. After 15 minutes we asked for the check again to finally receive it. I stayed in Cefalu for a month, trying multiple restaurants as well as many around Sicily. This is by far the most authentic Sicilian food I have ever eaten. More so the food and produce tasted so fresh. I can’t recommend this place high enough. I visited about 10 times all up. The pasta alla norma, alla bucchirsi, pasta with sardines and pasta with pistachios are the freshest and best plates of pasta i’ve ever had. I’ve travelled a lot through italy and seriously all i think about is this restaurant. I have no idea how people can give the food anything less than 5 stars. They clearly don’t know good italian food. Atmosphere is amazing, you can tell the family who run it have put a lot of effort into the place and the service is great and authentic. 5stars all round. Very disappointing. We had booked at table at 9PM, but weren’t seated until 9:30. Ordered at around 9:45PM. Waited around 45 minutes with no food when the waiter came up to us and asked if we had ordered? We replied yes, and a little while after he came to us and apologized, for our order had been forgotten because of a mistake in the kitchen. Ok, this is what happens, so at 22:30PM we finally got our food. We ordered bruschetta as an appetizer and two pasta dishes without fish and it was okay. Nothing special. The wine was good but we were very disappointed in the food and the service. We did expect there would be some kind of compensation offered to us for having to wait so long for our food.
