Where to begin.
At first when we arrived we were seated outside in a quiet comfortable little side street. The atmosphere was nice, the waiter greeted us with politeness and brought us a welcoming small glass of sparkling white wine, and a small bruchetta. We ordered a starter that had cottage cheese and smoked sirloin steak, incredible. Flavourfull on all spectrums without being too salty, even though we enjoy salty meat we were pleasantly suprised, and if im not mistaken there was a beetroot infused glaze on the plate that paired smoothly with the soft cheese and smoked sirloin. Paired with a great red wine which i cannot remember the name of. But it sure tasted good.
This is where it gets interesting..! We hadn't even finished our starter before it started to rain, and did it ever rain. Heavy rain So much that everybody seated outside had to be moved inside. I must admit that the staff handled the situation very professionally and were quick to act when they noticed how heavily it was raining. The resturant itself has locations with its main seating and bar area on one side of the street, and the kitchen plus winery and two " vip " tables in the the other building. Out of all the tables outside we were lucky enough to be moved to the more private smaller dining area / winery.
Ps. They replaced our starter with a replacement since it rained pretty heavily on our almost finished original plate.
Onto the main courses I had the smoked BBQ ribs. I'm no stranger to BBQ ribs. And let me tell you. Hands down the best Ribs i have ever tasted in my life, just melt off the bone. My fiancé had the Black Angus steak. Perfectly cooked. Absolutely phenominal.
Coming from a culinary backround i can tell you that this resturant goes above and beyond with theyre professionalism and taste. The owner was super accomidating and gave us some lìmon chello on the house as a thank you for our visit and how interested we were in the place. All around a fantastic visit to this really...
Read moreThis restaurant rivals the best steak houses I have ever experienced (for example, Peter Luger Steak House in NYC, Pappas Bros. Steakhouse in Texas) and most importantly was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had in Europe/United States! Every meal and every bite I savored as the flavor was pure, and ingredients were high quality and fresh. Each dish a mouth watering beautifully presented master piece! We got the rib eye steak (special salt comes with steak to bring out flavor), spaghetti with ricotta/olive oil/chili etc., mixed salad with the sweetest tomato’s and incredible olive oil/vinegar, roasted potato’s, special chocolate pistachio dessert that melts in your mouth, red Cabernet blend wine 2016 from Sicily. Our magnificent waiter, Mario, helped us pick out every dish based on our taste buds and was beyond educated regarding every meal. They even produce their own delicious Aperitif, limoncello and more. We are leaving Cefalu today but I wish we could stay longer just to eat here again!!! I will be dreaming about this place until we return again! What an incredible experience!
Edit: Sooo.. we came back and stayed another night in Cefalu and were VERY lucky to get a reservation. Wine: Ariana Occhipinti Organic Wine selected by the lovely, Roberto. Tonight we did the Australian black angus picanha (our new favorite!) and the ribeye (delicious as always). The mixed salads and roasted potato were just as delicious as yesterday!! The new dishes for today; sushi (my favorite sushi in in WA, NYC, San Francisco and Japan, but this was something completely different and incredible in its own unique way, there were different flavors and sauces for different meats, all complemented each other perfecyly). We also tried the Busiate Ragu (the most incredible Busiate noodle and sauce we have had in Sicily thus far!!!). Till next time...
Read moreThis was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had, not only in Sicily but the whole of Italy! The service was absolutely exceptional! Not only are all the servers incredibly friendly but extremely knowledgeable and professional. It was definitely 5 star service! They gave great recommendations for wine as well as what to eat. The outside seating has a lovely atmosphere in a charming alley just on the other side of the duomo. The inside seating is also beautifully decorated! It was a lovely experience to be able to head to their as-they-phrased-it ‘humble’ wine cellar (it’s anything but humble) to choose our bottle of wine. They also have a great selection of wine by the glass, at reasonable prices, if you don’t feel like a bottle. The food is some of the best food we’ve ever had! We had the steak tartare and beef croquette starters (both of which were absolutely delicious) and then shared one of their dry-aged tomahawk steaks which was just to die for! Not only do they have a great selection of meals such as pork belly, ribs, pastas, kebabs etc but you can also select a steak from their dry-aged range which is not on the menu. I generally prefer my steak cooked longer than they allow in most Italian restaurants (I prefer medium to well done and most Italian restaurants only cook steaks to rare or rare to medium) but I could let my steak cook a bit more on the hot plate which was great! It was one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten! We had an incredible evening and although we went for quite expensive options, you can also enjoy the experience by choosing the less expensive but equally delicious options such as the pork belly or pastas. I would highly recommend this restaurant. I would also recommend making a reservation which you can easily...
