My review is for the hotel. We stayed 4 nights in room number 4, which is (as far as we could tell) the only room with an exterior bathroom. Which is fine, we knew about it ahead of time, but we thought it was the case of all the rooms. We were surprised to see we seemed to be the only room in this case, even when other rooms were unoccupied during our stay. It was the most bothersome for showering, because there's no window or ventilation system, so when you shower, it gets hot and humid and you can't open the door because you're in the hallway near the stairs and anyone walking by can see in. Also, the shower temperature went from hot to cold and back again several times during a 10 minute shower without ever touching the faucet. Not exactly relaxing. The beds were a bit on the firm side, but correct. The air conditioning worked great in our room. We didn't hear too much noise from the restaurant downstairs. The woman who served breakfast was absolutely adorable, by far the best employee we encountered during our stay! We tried twice to make a reservation in the restaurant, but the employees were too busy running all over the place, and nobody ever came to ask us what we wanted (despite waiting at the cash register for 5 minutes on two separate occasions) so we gave up and ate elsewhere every night during our stay. Shame. We were always able to find parking nearby, even when the restaurant was packed every night. I would not recommend this place to someone without a car, however, because it's a long walk uphill by...
Read moreBeautiful view and great appearance. But the service….. When we arrived, we were asked if we had a reservation and when we answered no, we were asked to follow. Ok in COVID times, maybe it was wiser to make a reservation ( didn’t think about it after a long time in the car).
Anyway, being placed in an area inside of the restaurant where we were the only ones, made us feel uncomfortable. We would have made an online reservation and waited for a table outside 🤷🏻♂️without a problem if we were asked to do so.
The waiter was not able to smile at any time. Through a face mask however it is still possible to tell if someone is smiling/ showing empathy. Not today.
Having finished our food and wine, the whole thing bothered me and I tried to explain my experiences to the waiter, thinking maybe it would help him or them. Instead the waiter defended his way of thinking, he had visited our table numerous times. The manager ( or owner ) appeared to have the situation all figured out because he didn’t response to the situation when we paid our bill.
Maybe the language barrier plaid a role here, us not speaking Italian. But on the other hand, us speaking Dutch, English, German and a little French one would think communication is possible.
What a unpleasant experience of what could have...
