Albizi Bistrot — Restaurant in Florence

The food at Albizi is pretty good. In particular they made a good boar ragu and a decent artichoke sformatino. We enjoyed what we ate.

However, we won't eat there when we're in Firenze in future. This is a place that has clearly decided its future lies in catering for big parties of tourists. We were seated in an atmosphere free ante room, since the main room was taken up with a table of 19 Chinese visitors on a set menu. Unless you want to be part of a tourist conveyor belt operation, I'd avoid.

To make matters worse, the service was bizarre. Our waiter was by turns rude, absent minded, and just plain weird. Things like asking if we wanted our antipasti and primi all brought together (we'd each ordered one of each). Things like asking me if my 21 year old niece was drinking wine as if she was not sitting right there. Things like trying to insist we finished the bottle we'd ordered even though we'd said clearly we didn't want to. Some people are not born to work in restaurants. This guy was one of them.

This place was suggested to us by locals, it didn’t disappoint 😊 Staff very friendly and the wonderful owner did a first-rate job making us feel at home guiding us through the wines and giving us an idea of what was on offer even a little tour of the locale. I had a wonderful meal at this charming and cosy restaurant. The burger was absolutely delicious – juicy, flavourful, and perfectly cooked. It was served with a generous portion of crispy, herb-roasted potatoes, along with fresh mayonnaise and rich ketchup that complemented the dish beautifully. The presentation was thoughtful and inviting, even down to the knife elegantly placed through the sesame bun.
