We were very excited for a nice dinner in Florence but after such terrible service I can’t recommend this establishment to anyone.
When we arrived the restaurant only had a handful of other tables. We ordered an appetizer, main course and a glass of wine each. The appetizer came out quickly and tasted great. However after the appetizer came out our service ceased. After sitting for 30 minutes without any food or drinks and no one checking in on us, we flagged down our server to ask if our mains were coming. She replied that they were busy and we’d have to wait… this was despite us having ordered over an hour before that with only a handful of other tables seated. We would have been understanding of the wait time however she did not bother to ask if we wanted to refresh our drinks. At this point we cancelled our mains and left. The table across from us were also tourists and received similarly bad service. They waited 45 minutes between their main and desert.
If you are a tourist save your money and go elsewhere, they clearly aren’t interested...
Read moreOn being seated at this quirky, out of the way, garden with a kitchen on the hills of Florence, we were warmly welcomed and immediately furnished with warm Rosemary and Olive Oil Pizza Bread served in an unpretentious brown paper bag and a welcoming glass of Prosecco. The staff were attentive and friendly. They all speak English and there are English menus available too. My Quatro Stagioni Pizza was delicious! It was thin and crispy with the most flavoursome fresh toppings. The hubby being Florentine ordered the Bistecca alla Fiorentina which he gave an 8 out of 10 (which on his scale is quite high). My brother in law loved his Lamb with Artichokes and his choice of wine was delicious and well priced. To finish our Vin Santo and Cantuccini arrived in the cutest little boxes! The Sharing Plates looked AMAZING! Unfortunately we saw them too late and we weren't a big enough group but we will definitely be returning this summer.. with LOTS of friends.. p.s. Don't tell...
Read moreA good sized restaurant that manages to feel small and quaint, tucked away on a side street below the Piazzale Michelangelo in Florence, with great atmosphere and great food. Time your dinner around the sunset, as the view over the city of Florence from the top of the Piazzale Michelangelo is the best in the city (it will take 5-10 minutes to walk from the Piazzale viewing area to the restaurant, which I should emphasize does not have a view over the city).
I recommend ordering one of their meat/cheese plates to share. The smallest one will make a good sized appetizer for two people, or even a full meal if you're just looking for a drink and a snack. Make sure to book a reservation the day before as it is often jam packed, and try to brush up on some basic Italian phrases before you go as a courtesy (although some of the staff may speak English). Mostly filled with locals, it's a gesture that would...
