Osteria Mangiando Mangiando — Restaurant in Florence

A cozy restaurant located about 2 km from the city center, away from the tourist hustle and bustle. The staff were incredibly friendly and gave excellent recommendations.

For starters, we opted for a mix of traditional crostini served on homemade bread. The one with liver was definitely the best, and if I had to choose again, I’d go for just that one (although the others were also very tasty).

Next, I ordered a traditional Tuscan soup, and its flavor will stay with me for a long time—it was simply outstanding. Very aromatic and hearty, made with top-quality ingredients.

The next dish was Tortello with Tuscan ragù—it was absolutely delicious. Thin pasta filled with a wonderful potato-based stuffing, topped with Tuscan ragù—simply finger-licking good.

For the main course, I initially wanted to order a Florentine steak, but due to its very large size (around 1 kg), I opted for Peposo alla Fiorentina instead. The meat was fantastically prepared in a peppery sauce. The spicy sauce and the melt-in-your-mouth meat were incredible—I wholeheartedly recommend it.

For dessert, I chose a sponge cake soaked in alcohol—a perfect ending to an exquisite dinner.

I had a terrible experience with the owner of this place. I was walking my dog who sniffed the wall by her and I patiently let him smell it. I had seen a pile of poop when I was walking, but I didn’t have enough poo bags today to pick other dogs poop up. The thought had actually crossed my mind. She yelled at me down the road and I told her it’s not my dogs poop. It was huge and someone had stepped in it (which makes me confused why she would think it was me who just walked passed also my dog is tiny). She told me I was lying and that she saw me stop outside and I told her all of the things above. She said “I’ll clean it up for you” and really I just felt she hates foreign people to act like that. So if you speak English and have a dog be careful if you don’t want to get accused and yelled at for no reason. It really was a bad way to start the day and shows how this lady acts towards people. I hope she understood when she picked the poop up and it was ice cold and not warm. There are many promo actions in the Center - 1.2 kg steak for two with two plates of potatoes and a bottle of wine costs 60. Our bill for the same set was 120. They did not show us the meat and did not ask for doneness degree. I went to them myself and said that we want no blood, medium well. They brought a bloody steak with a huge 2 bones. They said to pick the pieces that we didn't like and they will roast them more. I never seen such a service before. And when I went to the restroom at the end of dinner, she took my plate with a pieces of meat, which I left for the finale with the rest of the wine.
