I've never reviewed a restaurant, but this experience has compelled me to.
Unfortunately our experience was far from enjoyable. Our server (elderly man) was remarkably unfriendly and rude. When he served our meals, he halphazardly dropped* the plates on the table without even saying anything -- it was almost laughable.
It was obvious that we were not welcome, so we ate our food and kindly asked for the check from one server (who was actually nice) and after waiting 20 minutes we asked the elder server for the check to which he says, "when it's ready". It's not like we ordered risotto and expected it to be delivered right away, we just wanted the check * and it took over 25 minutes until we just went to the register and got it ourselves.
I understand this establishment has been around for years and has assumably earned its reviews, but listen, if you don't want to serve a mother and daughter (for whatever reason it was that motivated you to treat us so poorly), that's fine, simply say you're booked for the evening instead of seating us and then acting like we're infringing upon your existence.
Aside from the inexcusable service, the mussel and clam pasta was mediocre (dry pasta and low quality shellfish) and the mushroom pasta was decent.
If you believe common courtesy is a fundamental facet of restaurant service, I would not recommend running the risk of coming here and being treated poorly; time is too precious to be wasted in restaurants that fail to treat each customer with a basic...
Read moreWARNING: DO NOT EAT HERE if you have any semblance of care for the flavor of your food or the quality of the service you receive. I stopped by here on a whim for dinner without a reservation. The staff made me wait 20 minutes because no one wanted to confront the owner and ask if we could have a table without a reservation. I read many reviews while I waited for my water and bread to come, both of which took almost another 20 minutes only because I kept following up on them, and ordered the fried artichoke and gnocchi. Despite requesting olive oil and butter, neither could save the bread from tasting rubbery and utterly bland. The fried artichoke was also bland but at least it was slightly salted unlike the butter I got. The gnocchi was a further disappointment as it was paired oddly with a meat sauce that kept separating from the gnocchi itself. Throughout dinner service, the waiters barely bothered to acknowledge my existence and only did so after I kept following up on requests Iâve made. My experience dining here is definitely the worst I have ever gone through, and mind you I have traveled extensively to 20 countries now. The food was utterly bland. The service was honestly nonexistent. Overall, this experience was exceptionally shocking because of how...

I am absolutely disgusted, I am disgusted about how completely underrated this flawless restaurant is.
It has been almost 2 weeks since I first came here with my family and after travelling all the way to Sorrento I have to say that my dining experience at Cafaggi was by far the best.
It was so good in fact, we came back once again just because the first time left us wanting more. I had ordered the Gnocchi and pork with beans which both were perfect. The gnocchi had so much flavour and blended perfectly with the meat sauce and the pork was cooked to perfection and somehow melted in my mouth.
We stumbled into the restaurant after an hour of searching for a suitable place as all seemed like traps. Even though we got there with only 20 minutes to closing (which we felt really bad about) they still managed to treat us with upmost hospitality until well after closing time.
I would be lying if I said even one thing was bad during my time as every aspect of my experience was perfect.
5 stars, underrated as even 4.5 seems too low to me. I will definitely be coming back here the next time I find myself in...
