Ristorante Peruviano La Vaca Loka — Restaurant in Florence

🇮🇹 Italiano Purtroppo la mia esperienza al ristorante peruviano Vaca Loca di Firenze è stata estremamente deludente. Abbiamo ordinato lo stesso piatto, chiedendo che uno fosse con cipolla e l’altro senza. Quando il cameriere li ha portati, entrambi erano senza cipolla. Alla nostra osservazione, ha risposto con un disinvolto “tanto è uguale”, senza nemmeno proporsi di portarli in cucina per correggerli o rifarli. All’interno faceva caldo, ma il proprietario si è rifiutato di accendere l’aria condizionata. Il cameriere non capiva l’italiano e mostrava un atteggiamento svogliato, come se non avesse alcuna voglia di lavorare. Non avevano acqua frizzante e i bicchieri emanavano un odore sgradevole, simile a uova andate a male. Dopo avermi chiesto se volessi il dolce (ho risposto di no), non mi è stato nemmeno proposto un caffè. Trenta secondi dopo, senza che avessi richiesto il conto, me lo hanno portato e appoggiato sul tavolo in maniera scortese, quasi lanciandolo.

Un servizio poco professionale, scarsa attenzione al cliente e un’atmosfera sgradevole: un’esperienza che non consiglio a nessuno, soprattutto in un ristorante che dovrebbe rappresentare la cucina peruviana.

🇬🇧 English Unfortunately, my experience at the Peruvian restaurant Vaca Loca in Florence was extremely disappointing. We ordered the same dish, asking for one with onions and one without. When the waiter brought them, both were without onions. When we pointed it out, he casually replied “it’s the same anyway”, without offering to take them back to the kitchen to correct or remake them. It was hot inside, but the owner refused to turn on the air conditioning. The waiter didn’t understand Italian and showed a lack of interest, as if he had no desire to work. They had no sparkling water, and the glasses had an unpleasant smell, similar to rotten eggs. After asking if I wanted dessert (I said no), I wasn’t even offered a coffee. Thirty seconds later, without me requesting the bill, it was brought and placed on the table in a rude manner, almost tossed.

Unprofessional service, poor customer care, and an unpleasant atmosphere: an experience I would not recommend to anyone, especially from a restaurant meant to represent Peruvian cuisine.

🇪🇸 Español Lamentablemente, mi experiencia en el restaurante peruano Vaca Loca de Florencia fue extremadamente decepcionante. Pedimos el mismo plato, solicitando uno con cebolla y otro sin cebolla. Cuando el camarero los trajo, ambos estaban sin cebolla. Al señalarlo, respondió con un despreocupado “es lo mismo”, sin ofrecer llevarlos a la cocina para corregirlos o rehacerlos. Hacía calor dentro, pero el dueño se negó a encender el aire acondicionado. El camarero no entendía italiano y mostraba una actitud apática, como si no tuviera ninguna intención de trabajar. No tenían agua con gas, y los vasos tenían un olor desagradable, parecido a huevos podridos. Después de preguntarme si quería postre (respondí que no), ni siquiera me ofrecieron café. Treinta segundos después, sin que yo pidiera la cuenta, me la trajeron y la dejaron en la mesa de forma descortés, casi tirándola.

Delicious! It was my first experience with Peruvian food (and beer!) and It was a great one. Very tasty, very generous portions, served with a friendly attitude, specially when your customer doesn't speak Italian or Spanish! I recommend to anyone, and in particular the ones wanting to try something new,( or reeeeealy hungry! ). You will be amazed. The prices are fair for the region, however the food choices are, in general, very hearty, tasty and in big portions. The place itself (Peruvian Mad Cow, in English) it is spacious and agreeable enough. There are plenty of sitting places inside, but, with the warm weather, I chose to be on the large, covered, outside bit, which was more than pleasant, and it was where almost all customers were anyway. Delicious Peruvian food. Without a doubt, it is the best Peruvian food I have ever had. Fantastic customer service. If you are a soccer fan, this is a great place to watch the games. The atmosphere and employees make it a positive and fun experience. The serving size for each dish is a lot compared to other restaurants around the area. Friendly staff.
