San Frediano Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Florence

My mother and I went to this lovely restaurant on a Sunday night on a whim and had the most amazing experience!! We wanted to have a nice, quiet, relaxing dinner after a busy day of exploring Florence with good food and good wine and this place delivered 100%!! We started with the Tagliere del mugello as a starter and the marinated figs, cured meats and pecorino were the perfect compliment to our complimentary glasses of proseco!! For our main courses we chose delicious pasta dishes...the sea bass ravioli and white ragu pasta were both excellent and perfectly balanced with our sangiovese wine. Dinner was filling, flavorful and perfectly executed! Service was quick and attentive without being overbearing...Fedele (our waiter) gave wonderful recommendations, listened to our questions and accommodated our dietary needs in a friendly and knowledgeable way. We ended our night with a delicious dessert of pistachio parfait, cantucci and vin Santo and a couple of espressos!! This was, without question, the best meal I’ve had anywhere in Europe, and that includes Italy, Switzerland, France, and England.

The double-cooked Galician octopus with boiled potatoes and paprika was exceptional, it was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of bounce and chew. Highly recommend!

We had a great time here, especially due to Fedele's kindness, patience and professionalism. This place is a real find with good food in a thoughtful modern setting.
