Trattoria Vittoria - specialità di pesce — Restaurant in Florence

This place was a pleasant surprise for me. I eaten here 20 years ago or so. Me and my wife went on a Saturday for lunch and the place was nearly full. It's not in a theistic location so nearly all the people are locals. It's a seafood only place, no meat dishes. The dishes are abundant for a seafood restaurant, and they had quite creative dishes along as classic ones. We were welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and 2 appetizer on the house we had the seafood soup that was excellent with a lot of mussels and clamps and squid. And I had the grilled octopus with fennel seeds and chickpeas purée. And it was one of the best seafood dishes I had in my entire life, it was perfectly balanced. We had at the end a sort of deconstructed apple pie, with crumbles and sweet wine reduction and it was really good. In total we had appetizer, main course, wine, one side,and dessert and we spent 116€, not cheap but was a great surprise. They made their own bread that is delicious as well. The only not so good point was the service, the waiter was kind, but he was not appropriate get the level of the restaurant, eg he didn't pour to us the water when he arrived or he brought the steamed vegetables but he forgot the oil...

Abbiamo avuto una delle peggiori esperienze e lo affermo con grande dispiacere. Mi attengo ai fatti. Giornata caldissima, sala con finestra semi aperta, condizionatore troppo lontano. All'ingresso nessuno ad accoglierci, dopo diversi minuti ci avventuriamo da soli in sala. Lì finalmente un cameriere ci fa accomodare. Dopo aver preso la comanda arriva solo l'acqua. Per avere il calice di vino abbiamo dovuto attendere il primo piatto. Ma torniamo agli antipasti. Alcuni piattini da dividere in due, senza particolare pregio, ma la brutta sorpresa è stata nell'insalata di mare. Emanava già cattivo odore prima di degustare. Entrambi abbiamo assaggiato e dopo essere rimasti disgustati abbiamo deciso di dirlo al cameriere, il quale torna dalla cucina con la medesima, a cui asserisce di aver aggiunto ed aggiustato con il limone. Noi abbastanza increduli e speranzosi che fosse un'altra rispetto alla prima, restiamo ancora più basiti e disgustati dall'assaggio. Viene a sparecchiare e nota che non avevamo mangiato né la prima né la seconda. Sparisce completamente dalla sala per un'abbondante mezz'ora. Quando riemerge gli facciamo gentilmente notare che non era stato servito il calice di vino, che finalmente arriva. Lo spaghetto alle vongole è stato mangiato, anche se pieno zeppo di pezzi d'aglio, che sono stati prontamente evitati con paziente attenzione. Il risotto alla pescatora crudo! Assolutamente crudo! Il pesce senza alcun sapore. Non siamo riusciti a terminarlo. Al momento del conto, sebbene non abbiamo più riportato le nostre remore, ci aspettavamo dal cameriere, gestore, forse anche cuoco, quel minimo di attenzione per le evidenti mancanze, la quale attenzione è mancata per l'ennesima volta. What an amazing place. We speak very little Italian and they were both helpful and charming in ensuring we were well looked after. The chef delivered our mixed starters himself and explained what each dish was and they were all delicious. The grilled fish of the day was served at the table and was a real treat. Excellent wine and the glass of Prosecco and apertivo which is included in the cover charge was a lovely touch. Will be recommending to anyone who is...
