Mi wife and me we had the pleasure of dining at Trattoria da Ginone, in the heart of the Santo Spirito district, and the experience was simply perfect. Located on Via dei Serragli, this historic trattoria is a true gem of traditional Tuscan and Florentine cuisine, a long-standing favorite among locals.

The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect from an authentic Florentine trattoria: warm, welcoming, and genuine, without any touristy gimmicks. The service was impeccable—friendly yet discreet, with great attention to detail that made our evening even more special. And then the food… an unforgettable journey into traditional flavors! Every dish was prepared with top-quality ingredients, respecting the recipes that make Tuscan cuisine one of the most beloved in the world.

Locale poco affollato, hanno cambiato gestione da Marzo 2022. c'era sia il menù con i piatti tipici del giorno scritto a mano su un foglietto (molto rustico) sia il menù normale, abbiamo optato per quest'ultimo visto che i prezzi del giornaliero erano dai 14€ in su.

Un mio amico era indeciso tra 2 primi, e il proprietario stesso ha consigliato di unirli insieme, quindi abbiamo avuto un super primo di picio con briciole di pane, piccante, pomodoro e pecorino, senza alcun aumento di prezzo. La porzione era normale, un po' piccola per i miei gusti ma la qualità era ottima: 7/10

abbiamo smezzato un antipasto di 3 crostini toscani di cui 1 con pomodorini, 1 con fegato e 1 con lardo, di solito non mi piacciono ma stavolta il lardo era ottimo e il fegato era buono, la rucola che faceva base del piatto poteva essere migliore (se sei il proprietario e stai leggendo mi dispiace perché questa è davvero essere pignoli, ma a me piace mangiare tutto del piatto, e anche la rucola va presa in considerazione): 7/10

Io per la prima volta ho preso cervello fritto, e devo dire che non era affatto male, era viscido e faceva senso a vederlo, ma era diviso in palline della giusta dimensione che mi hanno permesso di mangiarlo senza lasciare traumi, anzi, più lo mangiavo e più mi sembrava di abituarmi alla consistenza. Comunque a 45min di distanza sento ancora il viscido nella bocca, quindi un bell'effetto lo fa a chi non l'ha mai provato prima.

come primo c'erano pappardelle al cinghiale, le pappardelle erano buonissime, si sentiva che erano fatte in casa, anche il cinghiale era molto buono, forse il sugo poteva essere più succoso; 9/10

per dolce abbiamo preso un "latte portoghese" che in realtà era un creme caramel, non so perché il nome fosse diverso, semplice ma buono, non ha appesantito lo stomaco: 6/10

Il servizio era quasi da ristorante di alta classe, particolarmente i piatti molto larghi con il centro profondo e stretto (a discapito delle dimensioni delle porzioni)

il proprietario ci ha fatto anche da cameriere ed è stato super gentile, cambiandoci piatti e forchette ad ogni portata, consigliandoci su cosa prendere e come prenderlo, ad es. ci ha portato 2 tipi di olio, uno "nuovo" e uno normale, quello nuovo creato dalla prima spremitura e quindi molto più forte di quello normale, da prendere assieme al pane.

Alla fine ci ha anche dato dei consigli sulla zona migliore dove stare come ambiente universitario, costi, movida e trasporti pubblici. Cosa da non sottovalutare ci ha fatto 6€ di sconto togliendo il dolce dallo scontrino, dandoci quindi un apprezzatissimo regalo...

There are two sides of Florence, the tourist area near the Duomo and the local section across the river. VERY different menus offered. This is a restaurant on the local side and for all American Tourists, you will want to review the menu before you go. The owners are AMAZING and the staff was so kind. Not a bad thing to say about the experience of dining here- just pay attention to the menu. I’m Italian - so the offerings were expected. I’m not sure typical Americans expect to be offered Beef Brains, Tongue or Tripe. But everyone knows, Italians waste nothing and will create a delicacy out of whatever they are able to cook.

We prefer the local areas more than the shiner tourist areas. The streets are safe. The business closed on Sundays and close earlier than the other side. So plan ahead. The Gelato is 100% better. ...
