Genuinely dumbfounded how this place is rated this highly over almost 10,000 reviews. Meal and service were so weak based on the expectation of prior reviews.
One of the most mid meals I’ve had in Italy after being here over a month especially when considering the prices. The drinks are expensive. The tortellini tasted like it was boiled out of a bag in the freezer from the supermarket. The ragu was like it came out of the jar. Nothing tasted authentic or fresh. I think my blind grandmother with no tongue could have crafted a better tasting meal than what we were served. On top of it tasting so bad it also took an abnormally long time to come out.
Additionally, my partner ordered a bruschetta which I guess they took it as both of us wanted a bruschetta appetizer??? We told them in confusion when they placed two plates that we had only ordered one but the server just said something in Italian and walked off. We should have protsted more but I didn’t want to make a scene over 8 euros. Still ended up getting charged for 2 orders. Never had that happen before in Italy so I’m going to assume it was a scummy move on their part and one done to take advantage of English speaking tourists.
I would definitely not recommend coming here and suggest dining else where. Always a red flag when a resturant does not...
Read moreWe are visiting from California and have had tons of great Italian food. Stumbled upon this place while wandering around Florence at night and couldn't decide whether we should stay on the western side of the Arno river, or go back to the tourist zone filled with tourist traps and crowds. Found Gusta pizza first (which was on Guy Fieri's Diners Drive Ins and Dives on Food Network), it was super packed with a line wrapping around the corner .... we were super hungry so we passed on that place, and around the corner we found GustaPanino. The ratings were good so we sat down for dinner.
The staff were welcoming, funny, spoke great English, and were accommodating and open to our kids and vegetarian dining requests. Burrata toast starter was spot on, bread fresh and perfectly toasted, vegetable sides + salad were generous, and pastas were fresh and handmade. Our kids loved the tortellini and red sauce pasta. We ended up eating everything and licking sauce off our plates.
At the end of the meal, the owner asked us to stick around, he shared a shot of limoncello with us and told us that he is co-owner of GustaPizza as well, with his brothers, and in the future we will try to eat at both GustaPizza and...

During my recent visit to Florence, I had the pleasure of dining at Gustapanino Trattoria, and it was truly an amazing experience!
The highlight of our meal was the pumpkin and blue cheese risotto, which was simply divine. Each bite was rich and flavorful, making it a standout dish. We also enjoyed fresh salads that were crisp and refreshing, perfectly complemented by the delightful Hugo Spritz and Aperol Spritz we ordered.
For those who love pasta, the spicy spaghetti was a delicious treat, bursting with flavor. Additionally, the sandwiches we tried were incredible, packed with fresh ingredients and satisfying.
What made our experience even better was the friendly service. The staff went above and beyond, even opening early for our group of eight, which we greatly appreciated. The restaurant is conveniently located right next to a beautiful square, adding to the lovely ambiance.
