The owner is one of the 2 waiter but he is rude/arrogant. The other waiter was friendly. Make sure to make a reservation or he will threat you poorly even during the service.
The owner recommended the egg with truffle as an appetizer and we ordered that and as a main dish we ordered the pasta with truffle and the beef tenderloin. We said we weren’t going to share the beef tenderloin and they brought the pasta to my wife and the appetizer to share to me. He put on truffle on my wife’s plate and not on mine. I thought they he might have it inside the dish already but that wasn’t the case. Afterwards I commented to the owner if this does come with truffle as mentioned on the menu and he said:”yes, why didn’t you ask me before?” (He didn’t show up the entire time i had the appetizer and it was getting cold) I said because it was probably in the dish already processed because he put the truffle on my wife’s dish and they brought the 2plates at the same time. Very strange how he would forget to put truffle on my plate because they have about 5 appetizers on the menu and a small menu overall which isn’t a bad thing just to make clear. Poor response and just couldn’t care about us. Overall the egg and pasta weren’t very tasty
My main plate came about 20minutes after. We couldn’t eat our dinner together because of the carelessness of the owner. The beef tenderloin was good and made up for some of the previous experience that we had.
Overall the food is average for the area. After the great reviews I expected a lot more from this place but it...
Read moreWe had the best meal of our two week honeymoon in Italy here. It is a Michelin level experience!
The food was seasonal and high quality, the portions were generous, and the service was kind and welcoming. We loved the pecorino cheese and jams, the roasted leeks, and the risotto tossed in the wheel of pecorino cheese, but the crème de la crème were the pici with black garlic/burrata/anchovy and the duck breast with black cherry sauce/chilis/celeriac. Don’t skip the pici if you are anchovy averse—the taste is so subtle and balanced by the creaminess of the burrata! And, the duck dish was creative and comforting—we couldn’t stop eating it even though we were full from the antipasti and primi.
I recommend making a reservation, which was easy to do by phone.
We will definitely go out of our way to eat at La Gorgia again next time we are lucky enough to...
Read moreThat place is what we love Tuscany for! @La Gorgia is run by a lovely couple that makes you feel like home. And it’s not just said that way. They welcomed us so warmly that it was kind of hard to say goodbye to these people and - of course - to the food as our vacay came to its end. We’ve almost tried the whole menu up and down and it’s quite hard (again!) to say what’s best. But our all time favorite is the „Pici Cacio e Pepe“. Besides their food you can make some real good and affordable finds on their wine menu as well and to top it all off: The playlists will stick in my head, and let me think of the good times we had there. Let’s break it down. The best food in the best atmosphere and most of all with the best people. So, if you’ll ever be around Chianti area/Tuscany, this place is definitely worth a visit! We‘ll be back for...
