Taverna Le Cose Buone — Restaurant in Gaiole in Chianti

In brief: This place really is about the good things. Good food. Good wine. Good company. Good music. Good price. From the minute we walked in we felt like family, and we ended up coming back three times in a two day period, enough said.

Not so brief: I can't say enough about this place. I'm a Canadian and living here for two years, I know it's rare to find that place we all dream of when we think of going to Italy. Where the hosts are there to really give an all around experience. Every dish was exquisite in taste, ingredients, and presentation. We were introduced to classics and little known wines. And we enjoyed lively conversations with the truly knowledgeable, interesting, and hospitable owner and the chef.

My husband is Italian from Tuscany, yet I can't count the number of the times he said these were among the best meals of his life. He opted for seafood dishes and was blown away each time. I don't eat much seafood and ended up enjoying many custom creations from both on and off the menu, including some vegetarian options. Every one a delight.

In our tour of Chianti we always ate well, but had come to expect the typical tourist traps - decent food and wine in small portions with a 50% add-on to the price of everything just for being in that zone. Places where you always end up thinking, yeah, it's good, but we (or at least my mother-in-law), could make it better. This place was another world entirely. Feast like royalty. Feel like family. Pay an honest price.

And seriously though, the music.

We made the two-hour drive back home Sunday evening and almost got right back in the car to return for dinner... Definitely...

Smaczne miejsce w Gaiole in Chianti – Tawerna La Cose Buone 🍷🍝

Poniedziałkowy wieczór, 12 sierpnia, w toskańskim miasteczku Gaiole in Chianti.

Wiedzieliśmy, że w szczycie sezonu bez rezerwacji trudno będzie znaleźć wolny stolik. Pierwsza próba zakończyła się niepowodzeniem – wszystkie miejsca były zajęte. Niezrażeni kontynuowaliśmy poszukiwania i trafiliśmy do Tawerny La Cose Buone, gdzie mieliśmy szczęście –tylko jeden stolik dla dwóch osób był dostępny na godzinę 19. 🎉

Restauracja ma niewielki ogródek oraz kilka stolików wewnątrz, co tworzy przytulną atmosferę. Od razu przywitał nas uprzejmy kelner, który nie tylko podał menu, ale także przyniósł wodę dla naszego psa Kampera 🐕 – miły gest, który podkreślił, że psy są tu mile widziane!

Menu obfituje w regionalne specjały, z przewagą dań mięsnych, makaronów i owoców morza. Jak sugeruje nazwa – Terra e Mare – znajdziemy tu zarówno dania z ziemi, jak i z morza. Tylko jedna uwaga – ważne jest że Tawerna to nie pizzeria- tu nie dostaniecie pizzy.

Zdecydowaliśmy się na grillowane mięso oraz makaron z warzywami i mięsem, a do tego różowe wino i wodę. Ceny win zaczynają się od 19 euro za butelkę 🍾 (można także zamawiać na kieliszki 🍷), a dania główne (primi e secondi) od 12 euro.

Kiedy okazało się, że nasze wino nie było odpowiednio schłodzone, obsługa zaproponowała nam inne, lokalne wino w tej samej cenie – to właśnie takie detale budują wyjątkową atmosferę miejsca.

Zanim otrzymaliśmy główne dania, poczęstowano nas przystawką – świeżym pieczywem z pastą warzywną. Oba dania były wyśmienite, a uśmiech na twarzach obsługi nie znikał przez cały wieczór. 😊 Zarówno Pan, który nas obsługiwał, jak i Pani kelnerka, byli niezwykle życzliwi, co dodatkowo uprzyjemniło naszą wizytę.

Pyszne jedzenie 🍽, lokalne wina 🍇, przyjazna obsługa i możliwość zabrania ze sobą pupila sprawiają, że jest to idealne miejsce na toskańską kolację. 🌟

This was so good that I will never miss going back when I’m in Tuscany. Halfway through dinner, we knew this was no ordinary local chef. Chef Andrea has an impressive resume and we were delighted by every dish from starter to dessert. The Chianti Reserva from Gaiole was excellent. They also accommodated our group of 12 very well (I highly suggest reservations in advance as many groups had to be turned away and demand was high).
