Profumo di Rosa — Restaurant in Genoa

First went in summer 2014. I absolutely loved the rose flavoured gelato - I suppose their signature flavour, given the name of the shop. One of those holiday food memories which will linger for years. The lady behind the counter couldn't have been nicer - she carefully explained (in perfect English, having just dealt with the previous customers in perfect German) what all the flavours were, and offered us lots of samples, many of which were one-off experimental flavours. I think she was probably the owner, and had made the gelato herself. She was very sweet with our daughter (just under two years old) and gave her a "Happy Gelato" bib and a little cone with a perfect amount of gelato and a spoon, which she happily fed herself with for probably 15 minutes or so, letting us enjoy our gelato in peace.

Coming here was an utterly lovely experience, a real highlight of our holiday.

Returned yesterday after two years and both the gelato and the lady who makes it are...

We came here to try some particular flavors like rose for example. Well, I obviously a big fan of very particular flavors but for sure not the ones with flowers taste. We tried rose and violet flavors and decided to take more classical flavors. The portion of ice cream was big even though we took a small cup. We took 2 flavors: persimmon and banana with chocolate. Persimmon flavor was good, regarding the banana flavor we didn’t like it.

Upd : as i can’t answer to the owner’s comment, I leave it here: Yes, sure, we tried the flower flavors before make our decision. The banana flavor we decided to take without trying. It was not bad, no, the quality was good, but just we prefer something different in taste from the one we took. But it’s just our taste...

I just got back from a two-week trip to Italy. Throughout the two weeks, I made it my goal to get gelato from somewhere different every day. This place was definitely my favorite place from the entire trip. We met the owner while there and she was so friendly. She kept giving us different samples to try without us asking, she just seemed genuinely excited to have us try some of the different flavors she had recently made. They were all very good. I particularly enjoyed that she had some seasonal flavors going on. I got a scoop of the pumpkin, as well as another fall flavor she had.
