TLDR: GO HERE FOR AUTHENTIC DELICIOUS MEXICAN. YOU WILL HAVE A PHENOMENAL EXPERIENCE.
Atmosphere/service: The moment you walk in you are transported to Mexico with the beautiful decor of traditional Mexican tiles and alebrijes.
The owner, Desirae is an incredibly kind woman who is attentive and savvy, leaving you plenty of space to enjoy your meal but it always available at exactly the right moment. She is also marvelously interesting so if not too busy I recommend learning about her background a bit, as i think it further enhances the food
Food: fantastic. The passion from the owner Desirae and her abuela can be felt in every bite!! I worked at a Michelin rated Mexican restaurant and this food surpasses it. Amazing flavors, proper spice, large portions at exceedingly reasonable prices. Daily specials to die for. I had ribs cooked in a salsa verde that absolutely melted in my mouth. We tried one of every taco and each was better than the last.
Don’t skip on the tres leches and cafe de olla (cinnamon sugar coffee)! These are hard to find in the states, let alone Italy!
Margaritas are delicious, not too sweet, and strong but not too strong!
Also has a small selection of tequila/mezcal and Mexican beers that really solidify the experience.
If you are a Mexican food lover and you leave genoa without going to taqueria mamacita’s, you have done yourself...

food & service ok. But the numbers don’t add up on the receipt. Before payment we went through the dishes & drinks ordered with the owner. When the receipt was handed to us for review we just accepted it as all it stated was ‘food’ and ‘beverages’- without specifying the item ordered- as a result of the late hour that the transaction took place (23:19 stated on the receipt).
It raises questions as to whether or not there is an accurate billing system registered in the restaurant.
It doesn’t take rocket science to visually ascertain that NOT ALL of the numbers on the receipt do not match with any of the numbers printed on the menu. Even if more than 1 of the same items was ordered, the result of the total amount divided by any amount does not match with the menu prices. Same goes with the IVA (VAT), some numbers don’t add up after taking it off.
The negligence exhibited by the owner has not only left a negative impression of the restaurant, but also reflects what seems to be the two-faced nature of her character- approaching our table at the end of our meal with vibrant conversation, but yet presenting us with an ambiguous receipt; people unfamiliar with Genoan restaurant practices, at...
Read moreMy husband and I ate here today and absolutely loved this place! The food was delicious, the prices were unexpectedly low for being in a touristy area and it's very close to the train station. At the time we went (around 12:30), we had no issues with finding seating, but it is also low season in February and I imagine that it may be packed during the high season. The owner was also amazingly friendly, which you appreciate if you've visited any of the more uptight and unnecessarily expensive restaurants in this area.
If you're an expat from the Southwest US or Cali, you'll appreciate the authenticity of the Mexican food for a little taste of home. I highly recommend this place if you're budget conscious, but still want a good, filling meal. We can't...
