La Genuina | Pasticceria Caffetteria — Restaurant in La Spezia

I have been wanting to try this place for a while now, because the pastries look soooo good. I finally went there yesterday and experienced VERY rude service. The lady in front of me was Candadian and was trying to order a latte. The waitress kind of shouted at her. 'MILK?' The lady said no she wanted a coffee. The waitress was impatient and looked irritated. I stepped in and ordered a cafe latte for the customer in Italian. The customer looked anxious and I tried to make a joke of it with her. I was next in line but someone else came to the counter and she served them first ahead of me. When I placed my order I also experienced similar bad impatient service. The waitress was barely making any eye contact and seemed like she couldn't be bothered. If cafe's don't want tourists then they should maybe have a sign on their door. In the end the coffee was ok (nothing special) and the pistacchio cornetto was also ok (nothing special). I've had MUCH MUCH better coffee and pastry within 5 mins walk of my house in Australia. So please don't waste your money or time at this place, it's not worth it. There are many good cafes...

We saw lots of locals here and understand why. The pastries were excellent (especially the cornetto con crema) and this was the bar we came back to twice. Coffee was good too (if maybe not the best we found in La Spezia).

We have read reviews about poor service but our experience was fine. I think if you come prepared with a bit of Italian or understanding of Italian culture you will be fine. The staff could be more accommodating to tourists but also some reviews feel like the tourists could be more conscientious...

Episodio negativo riferito all'anno 2020 : Devo dire che dei 3 punti vendita che hanno in città questo è decisamente il peggiore. Concordo con coloro che affermano che il personale sia scortese e poco disponibile verso il cliente ma dopo l'esperienza negativa di oggi personalmente non ci andrò più : Appena entrato vado al bancone per ordinare i miei classici 3 mignon e il caffè che sono solito consumare da diversi anni come cliente , davanti a me una signora che proprio in quel momento stava mostrando alla cameriera il suo green pass cosi al fine di velocizzare la procedura , con la mia consueta educazione ho chiesto cortesemente che mi venisse controllato anche il mio avendo già la cameriera , l'applicazione di verifica aperta e poi ovviamente avrei atteso il mio turno senza problemi ... ebbene la cameriera con l'aria schifata si è rivolta a me dicendomi che prima c'era la signora ( ma infatti gliel'ho detto che mica le volevo passare avanti ma semplicemente accelerare la procedura ne va anche a suo vantaggio) Così non ho fatto ne uno e ne due , educatamente ho salutato , me ne son preso e me ne sono andato promettendomi di non tornarci più. Di sicuro loro non andranno in fallimento ed io ovviamente avevo già almeno un paio di alternative , 1 su Spezia e una su Sarzana (Giubea) che rimane in provincia la mia pasticceria preferita e...
