Pizzeria, Bar, Trattoria, All'Ancora — Restaurant in Lazise

I have been looking forward to helping others with good food reviews for many years and this is the first that I have been ashamed to eat at. That i have been made to feel so bad. The service and food was terrible but to top it off the staff and management were very rude talking behind our back. It was really difficult to try and get any acceptance of bad service. We found this while walking around in Lazize, it looked nice outside and it was very busy outside with lots of people queuing. As we entered we waited in the reception for a table. This took a short while and we were seated. Our waiter took our order, of drinks. My wife ordered the Pork escalope's and I wanted a pizza. We sat down and it was a little while before the waiter returned with our drinks. My wifes meal came first and she asked if it was okay to eat as mine had not arrived. I did not mind waiting. My wife started to try and eat the pork but it was very tough and it seemed to be over cooked at the edges. It was difficult to get the knife to cut. The meat breadcrumbs was very dark brown. She looked around and tried to get attention to have it replaced. When we managed to get attention. The waiter was apologetic and asked if another meal was wanted. They also commented about my pizza had not arrived. If was a short while later and the second plate arrived. My wife said it was better but not great and still tough. Half way through eating my pizza arrived. I quizzed if it was the right one, the waiter then went to the lady who had taken our order but she said that was what i ordered. I eat my pizza and it seems that this region the pizza is a very crispy base. It tasted very dry. There was no bread on the table and my wife had to ask for this to be brought to us. All the other tables had bread in bags. Olive oil was on the table. i could see our female waiter was chatting away with the other waitresses although it was a full restaurant. I could see a couple of tables away a young couple that were having a chat and seemed worried, then their meal arrived and smiles were seen. This should have been a warning to me, that fact that we had to order another meal, my pizza was not at the same time and only arrived later on the second meal. It was really hard to gain their attention to get any service. The drinks waiter was very good, he arrived with the drinks was very pleasant and made sure that the drink was the right one. We tried to gain attention as we nearly finished and my wife asked for a glass of water, A short while later the drinks waiter arrived with another glass of wine. We quizzed with our waiter and it seems she had placed the order for wine, not water. We declined and at that point having to keep looking out for staff as they whisked by quickly or to try and gain their attention gave up. We then walked back to the front of the restaurant to try and work out some reduction due to the poor food and poor service. As we explained what happened the waiter that had brought out the food apologised and said it was his fault for bringing out the over cooked meal. I understood he was going to have it removed. I would have been happy at this point although there was many more issues here. It then took 2/3 times more to explain the issue of bad food and service. Asking for the manager did not work either. Frustrated at the till, then a lady appeared. it must of been the owner who said many things in Italian to the staff. I felt that they were not in any way sorry for the service or the food. In the end, the lady used a pen to cross out the bill. I offered to pay part but it was refused. For me even the next day I was still upset at the way we had been made to feel at the till. I have never had so bad service and to be treated in such a way. If you do go here, please write up your experience. Maybe its a sign for the management to improve on and work on their service...

Went here for dinner early July, because the restaurant has a nice garden area away from the busy streets of Lazise. Unfortunately the restaurant did not meet our expectations, on several important parameters. We arrived at the restaurant around 19:30, and quickly made our order for drinks, because the walk into town had made us thirsty. We soon realized that the garden area was not equipped with cooling fans, and since the garden is located in a closed area, with overhanging trees, the temperature in there was so high that our kids simply lost their appetite. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to be struggling with the heat, and we couldn’t wait getting out of there again. I simply don’t understand why they do not have cooling fans to move the air a bit, since it would make it way more comfortable for their guests.

The food we ordered was disappointing, the French fries were undercooked, the pasta was uninspiring and the pizza base was below average.

Besides that, smoking is allowed at the tables, even though everyone is sitting quite close, and the air is standing still, because the overhanging trees is acting as a roof. I don’t mind people smoking, but I just don’t want to be caught in the middle of it.

Whilst visiting Lazise we were looking for a place to have dinner and just came across this place. Before the food came some lovely waitresses gave our kids some papers and pencils to keep them amused! As a family with children who have special needs this was the first and only restaurant where they were actually really childfriendly. As one of them became very tired and starting expressing behaviour that is not appropriate one of the waitresses went out of her way to blow up a balloon drew some smiley faces on them and tried to comfort our son, which is near impossible but just the effort she took was amazing! The staff didn’t look angry or tried to push us out at all even though we knew it was difficult for them (and us) they treated us and most importantly our children like welcomed guests. I didn’t know this restaurant so I went looking on Google maps just to find this place to give this review, they deserve it!
