This place is listed among the top five sushi restaurants in Puglia, which set high expectations. Unfortunately, it just didn’t live up to the hype. The experience was… fine. Not terrible, not great: just average. For a region with growing interest in Japanese cuisine and plenty of access to great fish, that’s simply not enough.

There was nothing here that even remotely compares to the real Japanese experience in terms of quality and preparation. That said, a few nigiri stood out: the gambero rosso, branzino, and scallop were all enjoyable. But their take on ventresca (which they said it translated to midfatty or fatty tuna), supposedly their most exquisite dish, was frankly horrifying. It lacked the richness and texture you’d expect from true chūtoro or ōtoro, was soaked in oil and lime completely covering the real taste of the fish. Honestly I’m not even sure it was what they claimed it was, the terms they chose to translate might have been misleading.

Yes, the quality is above your average all-you-can-eat spot, but that alone doesn’t make it special. There’s a clear effort here, but the result is more a failed experiment in fusion, they better stick to the freshness of fish. Three stars for a decent meal, but not worth being mentioned in...

Our dinner at Fugu may have been the most memorable dining experience of our time in Italy. From the moment we arrived the staff was very attentive, chatting casually to make us feel comfortable with our lack of knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi. Their English skills were very good and both the owner and the wait staff were simply great. I hesitate calling their treatment of us service because they treated us like friends. The ambiance was upscale and beautiful and very comfortable. We put ourselves in their hands and the dishes and accompanying wine they recommended were perfect. Our one regret is that we discovered them at the end of our visit in Lecce so didn’t get to enjoy the experience a second time before leaving. Food, service, ambiance and welcoming people....

Servizio pessimo con varie criticità ripetute più volte. Appena entrati, un camerere ci fa accomodare e ci chiede se vogliamo dell'acqua mentre decidiamo cosa ordinare. Diciamo di sì e sparisce. Passano 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 minuti e di lui nessuna ombra. Al che decido di chiamare qualcuno con un cenno, situazione già imbarazzante di per sè. Vedo altri camerieri che però non alzano mai lo sguardo ed è come se il nostro tavolo fosse vuoto. Ci avevano completamente dimenticati!!! Nel frattempo passano BEN 40 MINUTI senza nè aver ordinato e nemmeno avere l'acqua promessa all'inizio!!! Al che mi son dovuto alzare e son dovuto andare a chiamare direttamente una cameriera tra i tavoli. Dopo di ciò il servizio è stato normale fino al momento del conto, quando una volta arrivato e posizionate le banconote all'interno non son più venuti a ritirarle. Anche in questo caso ci siamo dovuti alzare per portarlo noi in cassa. Morale della favola, ci ho portato la ragazza per fare bella figura, spendendo in due 95 euro ed invece questo servizio mi ha fatto fare una brutta figura. Preciso che la sera prima, ci sono andato con gli amici ed anche in questo caso si è presentata all'inizio una cameriera dicendoci: ragazzi io sono Katia, per le ordinazioni e qualsiasi cosa fate riferimento a me... Mai più vista da quel momento e i camerieri abbiamo dovuto chiamarli noi sempre da lontano. Pensavo fosse un caso ed invece la gestione dei tavoli qui è fallimentare. Ancora un'ultima criticità: la sera precedente avevo segnalato ad una cameriera che il lavandino del bagno degli uomini perdeva da sotto, facendo cadere tutta l'acqua sul pavimento. Mi ha ringraziato per la segnalazione. Il giorno dopo il problema era ancora lì ad allagare il bagno per lavarsi le mani. Le due stelle solo per la bontà del sushi che sicuramente troverò in altri posti con un servizio dignitoso. Per quanto mi riguarda qui non...
