Hilo poke — Restaurant in Lecce

They have a great variety of ingredients for your poke which is fun. It tasted fine, we liked it. My only concern about the place is that they are not working with the freshest fish. Altough they had tuna on the menu, it was not displayed at the counter. I asked the guy if they have tuna which he didnt really know the answer to, he went back to the kitchen and a couple of seconds later, he brought a container of tuna. Well Im no fish expert but Im a home cook and I often make sushi at home, so Ive seen some tuna over the years. This tuna was different, it was brown with little white dots.. I asked him if it fresh. Im not saying if it was inedible or if it was dangerous to eat, but It was not fresh and I would never reccomend for someone to eat raw tuna like this. First few times it was very good. Last visit however, we barely ate anything on the plate as the mango was clearly gone bad, the tuna was cooked and the rest of the ingredients not very fresh at all! Dissapointing, I won't be coming back.

*UPDATE:I just got a very unprofessional and very bad taste reply from your management, when instead you should be APOLOGIZING to a costumer who very discretely tried to warn you about the mango and tuna gone bad in front of other costumers. You should know we are now SICK with a stomachache after eating at your establishment....

Da turisti, io e il mio compagno, di siamo fermati in questo ristorante per cena. Premetto che non avevamo mai assaggiato il poke ma eravamo molto curiosi di provarlo. Vedendo che mi stavano servendo il riso ancora fumante sono rimasta perplessa, pensando che potesse "cuocere" il salmone crudo, per cui mi hanno servito il riso freddo. Risultato: era letteralmente immangiabile perché completamente incollato. Appena l'ho fatto notare al ragazzo, mi ha spiegato che il riso viene cucinato esattamente come quello per il sushi, motivo per cui lo servono caldo, onde evitare che formi dei grumi duri non certo piacevoli al palato. Nonostante gli avessi chiesto di cambiarmi solo il riso per non sprecare gli altri ingredienti, ha insistito per rifarmi il poke da capo, assicurandomi che avrebbe dato il resto al cane. Che dire, è stato paziente, simpatico, gentilissimo e soprattutto sorridente! Non è da tutti affrontare un cliente scontento (talvolta a causa delle scelte sbagliate del cliente stesso) con il sorriso e la disponibilità mostrata a me, facendolo uscire dal locale soddisfatto.
