Great spot for tasty paninis, nice outdoor seating and pleasant service. Martina is the best! We enjoyed the Mortadella, gorgonzola dolce, arugula, tomatoes panini and the Porchetta, taleggio, sun-dried tomatoes, arugula panini. Our sandwiches paired well with the Vermentino. They also offered a nice espresso. This restaurant was the perfect first meal upon arriving in Lucca after a long journey. The sandwiches are large, so it is possible to share depending on how hungry you are.
We had such a good experience that we came back the a few more times during our stay in Lucca. We shared the QUELLA AL POLLO (Mixed salad, CBT chicken, cherry tomatoes, celery, steamed onion, boiled potatoes, Taggiasca olives, 24-month-old parmesan cheese, sweet and sour sauce (mustard-based)); the CROSTONE MORTAZZA (Toasted bread, mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio cream and toasted pistachio grains); BURRO E ACCIUGHE Toasted bread, favored salted butter, Cantabrian anchovies; and Caprese platter. The Crostini hit the spot. The mortadella was perfectly thinly sliced, bread, so tasty. The anchovies with butter on toast was delicious. The chicken salad was bland with very dry chicken and tasteless tomatoes, but the olives were tasty. But other than that, we had...
Read moreWe joined the many Italians out walking, biking or running the historic old walls and on the recommendation of our host, we were at Ciacco at 12 noon exactly, so we could have an outside table. I had the salmon salad. Served with a warm rustic bread, the salad is a mix of greens, carrots, green beans, cooked salmon, hard boiled eggs, avocado and chopped nuts. Excellent olive oil and balsamic vinegar are brought to the table for you to dress the salad to your taste. After traveling in Italy for a month & many meals of pasta and pizza, this meal was the delicious change I was looking for. The service is exceptional and serving sizes immense (I brought home salad for a second meal). The charcuterie board was very popular at many tables. Watching the staff prepare them is like watching the creation of a...
Read moreFantastic spot for lunch in Lucca.
They have a sign outside saying “No pasta. No pizza. No stress.” Which initially made me think it was only a bar, and then i saw people eating so we stopped in for a bite.
One of the best sandwiches I’ve eaten — every ingredient is a delight and beautifully fresh. I had a ham, burrata, and aubergine sandwich. The bread was perfect, the ham was deep in flavour, the cheese beautifully fresh, and the presentation simple and unfussy.
The salads are also fresh and presented beautifully in a huge bowl.
They serve Coca Cola in a glass bottle with ice and lemon.
Sit outside and soak up the sun and atmosphere of the square.
