It had to be one of our best meals this year during our travels (from Rome, Orvieto, Siena, Lucca to Cinque Terre). Tucked just off the touristy paths, near the old city walls of Lucca, Miranda came highly recommended by our wonderful host at Il Pozzo di Santa Zita—and what a recommendation it was! By the way, this apartment is also highly recommended as a place to stay (thanks Rebecca!)
We booked a table for the evening and were seated outside, overlooking the greenery surrounding the historic walls. The setting was serene, and the food… unforgettable.
As starters, the watermelon caprese with buffalo mozzarella was divine, but the real showstopper was the stuffed fried anchovies topped with passion fruit granita—so good we immediately ordered it again. (Yes, twice. No regrets.)
For mains, we shared young pigeon with a rich brown sauce, ossobuco fettuccine with a creamy green bean-speckled sauce, and for our son, the giant prawn with linguine—each dish beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. (Apologies if I’ve misnamed the pastas—we’re enthusiastic non-Italians who happily mix them up!)
The little amuse-bouches between courses kept our taste buds intrigued, and desserts were a must: the classic tiramisù plus another creation so good I can’t even describe it properly—just trust me on this one.
Coming from Bali, Indonesia, where our palates are used to spice and our hearts to warm, genuine hospitality—we found both here at Miranda. The service was attentive yet unpretentious, giving the whole evening the least touristy, most genuine feel we experienced in Lucca.
While we already love Lucca for its greenery, charm, and friendliness, Miranda gave us yet another...
Read moreWe came for dinner last night and the food was completely outstanding. We went for the tasting menu and every course was mind blowing. Traditional Tuscan with a twist and menu changed seasonally. Usually with tasting menus you come away still feeling hungry but not here, the portion sizes are very generous. Well worth every single cent.
It didn’t end there, the ambiance and decor was so cool and modern. Every small detail has been thought about, from the stand next to each table to hang your handbag, to the beautiful plates and bowls which are thoughtfully designed to go with each course.
The service was also faultless, like clockwork and the waiters so attentive and friendly.
This place deserves a michelin star.
What a gem in Lucca, and a highlight of our Tuscan trip. I would travel from London just to eat here again. If you are deciding whether or not to come here for dinner, you absolutely will not be...
Read moreIncredible experience.. we booked for early doors at 7:30. Arrived at 7:45 and restaurant started to fill up. Greeted by Yuri ( excellent English and just the most knowledgeable and pleasant demeanor). Beautiful inside and outside, right near the wall. Glass of bubbles, followed with some of the best amuse bouche we have ever had. Tomato aspic, a fish ball and some sort of parmigiana caramel flan! It only got better. Incredible wine list. Curated dinner by Yuri ( we were able to choose one vegetarian degustation and one terra ). I’ve eaten at many fine dining restaurants, the food, presentation, and non pretentiousness of this restaurant is freaking incredible. Love it. Go. You won’t regret it. Left after a lovely coffee and meeting with the Chef. Thanks for making our trip to Lucca,Team Miranda, you...
