Osteria San Giorgio — Restaurant in Lucca

Great place and absolute great service. Last night my husband and I went there to have dinner. Around 7:30pm local time, and we walked in and a very nice man asked if we indeed have a reservation. I said we didn't, and he said that the whole restaurant is booked for 9:00pm, but he still gave as a table for two. I promised him that we will be done before that, and we did! Food was great! I had the spaghetti with seafoods, ( Forgot the name in Italian) and my husband had, salmon with some kind of porcini cream sauce. I ordered a couple of appetizers to take home. Price is very reasonable, €57 for all of that including a bottle of still water. PS. I have been to Lucca 3 times and all that time, I make sure I visit them. It's very important though to make sure you call ahead to make a reservation. I believe the are open at 7:00pm for dinner, not sure what time they close...

Wow... what can I say? TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED doesn't even begin to describe our experience. We arrived and was greeted warmly and that's where it ended. We were told there is only one wine menu so we waited... almost 40 mins later (asking 3 times for the wine list) we got it and was expected to quickly choose our selection and food. At this stage people who arrived after us had wine and first serving of food. At this stage we already had the bread and full bottle of sparkling water. The waitress wasn't welcoming at all and felt like we were forgotten about as we're tourists. Being in this industry as well we know how important it is to look after customers but at this stage they weren't even busy so I can imagine what it would've been like. We just had to get up, pay for what was brought out even though we barely sipped the wine. Its a beautiful location...

The outdoor space is beautiful. We sat indoors with the AC and were happy for it. The decor is a bit hodge lodge, and I wouldn’t recommend the place based on the inside ambience- BUT- who cares? It was a good temperature, not too noisy, and both the service and the food were great. I would recommend any go. And great value for the money. My family of four loved everything we got (except the house red wine- next time, we’ll just buy a bottle). The mixed antipasti- so good! The stuffed pasta in a ragu- we had to order a second- the simple grilled steak- tender and flavourful. The contient- spinach and potatoes- yep, perfect. The chicken? Exceeded our expectations. We were too full for dessert but I bet they’re all authentic and tasty and not too heavy, either. (Oh, one last thing, the olive oil they brought to the table was also very good quality...
