I recently visited Pasqualino Gubitosa, a restaurant enoteca located in a charming courtyard in the old town of Lucca. I must say I was deeply impressed by the extensive wine selection and the excellent cuisine offered at this establishment. One of the most distinctive features of Pasqualino Gubitosa is its exceptional wine list, which currently includes over 900 different bottles. The total inventory exceeds 3000 bottles, demonstrating the attention and passion Pasquale Lucca puts into selecting producers and wines. You can notice his commitment to selling only wines that he himself would enjoy, ensuring a top-quality tasting experience. Pasqualino Gubitosa's wine collection is predominantly Italian, with a wide selection of aged vintages. This allows customers to discover and appreciate great Italian wines, whether they are connoisseurs or newcomers to the industry. The variety and quality of the wines offered are truly impressive. In addition to the extensive wine choices, Pasqualino Gubitosa's cuisine is of the highest level. You can pair the excellent dishes with wines recommended by the knowledgeable staff or simply enjoy a good glass of wine as you would in a regular enoteca. The combination of excellent cuisine and extraordinary wines provides a complete gastronomic experience. The setting of the restaurant is charming, being nestled in the characteristic courtyard of Lucca's old town. This creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere, perfect for a romantic evening or for sharing special moments with friends and family. In conclusion, Pasqualino Gubitosa is a restaurant enoteca that offers a wide selection of high-quality Italian wines, accompanied by excellent cuisine. Pasquale Lucca's passion and dedication are reflected in the care with which he selects the wines and in the attentive and professional service provided. If you are wine lovers and wish to enjoy an unforgettable gastronomic evening, I highly recommend visiting...

This restaurant had a sign that said “we are fully booked tonight”, and so we made sure to stop by after dinner to ask about availability for the next day. Pasquale went out of his way to try to accommodate us, thoughtfully counting the expected guests to see if he could fit two more. We’re so grateful he did!
The food was exceptional.
Fettuccine with prawns, zucchini, and lemon – The prawns were deshelled, yet firm and fresh—no mushiness at all. Chopped into bite-sized pieces and paired perfectly with a dash of lemon.
Fish of the day (Sea bream) with roasted veg and potatoes – Oven-roasted with olive oil, letting the freshness of the fish shine through. Pasquale even pointed out which of the two olive oils on our table paired best with fish. And it did.
Gnocchi with pecorino, mussels and asparagus tips – Ordered this based on the strength of the previous two dishes, and it did not disappoint. Gnocchi held its shape but melted in the mouth. Mussels and asparagus were fresh and well-balanced by a salty pecorino cream sauce.
We were also welcomed with complimentary prosecco, and ended with meloncello and a sliced cake, on the house. We were laugh-crying because we were so full, but nonetheless - what a lovely surprise!
The server also recommended a glass of white wine that paired beautifully with both the fettuccine and the sea bream. Kudos to the staff for being attentive throughout, even replacing our sparkling water when it ran out.
Truly one of the best—if not the best—dining experiences we’ve had in...
Read moreBefore our trip I spent considerable time reading reviews and recommendations for restaurants along the way. I am so very thankful to others for reviews about Osteria da Pasquale!!!
We were a group of 7, so we needed advance reservations. Pasquale was very accommodating to my request and corresponded very effectively to confirm our reservation. I highly recommend you make a reservation in advance.
This was probably my very favorite restaurant of my trip. And we ate at many fantastic restaurants. Pasquale is an incredible owner and so friendly and happy to the guests. We booked an outside table and the weather decided to be uncooperative. Pasquale was able to move our large group inside. Thankfully his new location had enough room! (he doesn't fully book the tables because he expects a great experience for the guests, so there are some empty seats that will not be filled)
The scallops were incredible. Don't pass them up! The fettuccine with prawns as well. And the panna cotta was amazing. Other pictured items were from our other friends and they all raved about their food too.
Wine selections were provided by Pasquale, and you should go with his recommendations. Delicious!
Just when you can't eat or drink anything else, Pasquale comes by with some digestives. All of us were so over the top after this, it was an entertaining walk back to the hotel. Simply amazing and Highly...
