Ristorante La Pace — Restaurant in Malcesine

Our family of 7 had dinner here during our recent trip to Lake Garda. We loved La Place! We found it simply because they were one of the few restaurants that took reservations online and still had enough space for all 7 of us on short notice. Since we knew we were in a heavily touristed area, we had somewhat low expectations, but we were pleasantly surprised! We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation, as we were all hungry. The head waiter (or maybe he was the owner - I really don't know, but he clearly seemed to be in charge of the wait staff) was very busy, as it was the height of tourist season, but he pleasantly handed us 7 glasses and a free bottle of Prosecco! We relaxed by the dock for a few minutes and sipped our bubbly while his staff got our table ready. The food was delicious - much better than we expected. When it started raining, the head waiter instructed his crew to deploy the umbrellas and within a few short minutes we were dry again. After dinner, we all received a complimentary shot of Limoncello! Can you tell I really liked the head waiter, LOL!? He was busy, bustling, and I'm sure very tired, but he went out of his way to make sure his customers were happy. Job well done, sir - thank you very much! We had a lovely...

We had our wedding here 10 years ago (2006) and I had arrange everything through a tour operator. We ended up with more guests than expected so looked to save mony on the meal. The tour operated was not very helpful so I decided to book it separately off the internet. I booked and instantly thought oh my god what have I just done. Thankfully it was the best decision I have made. Not only did I save £14 per head plus got 7 courses, and really wanted for nothing . Th staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough. free drinks, free cheese, personal service and attention. it rained for 20 mins they moved everything inside and back out again after it stopped. We partied all night they really made the day for us. The scenery was beautiful and we played guitar and sang songs and danced by the lake. Stunning, Special and a day an experience will never forget and possibly never match. Cant thank the team or rate them...

The food was ok. That's it about the positive aspects of the restaurant.

Negative: way too intrusive owner making weird jokes and asking for leaving a comment on Tripadvisor or Google which is what I'm doing (but not to his liking).

The owner didn't bring us the menu but just verbalised what he had today (without telling us the prices). At ordering he said he would "treat us right" (is that exceptional for him if he needs to say it??) and make us nice generous plates. To our surprise when asking for the bill he gave us a proforma invoice (not a real one, so maybe he doesn't like the ITALIAN TAX SYSTEM too much) which on top of that was completely different from what we ordered (for instance the generous bowl of potatoes was generous because he billed the potatoes twice. Billing twice without telling the customer is not called generosity but something else. ;)
