overall: entrees were inedible, and rude service.

Our antipasti were enjoyable, but our entrees were completely disappointing. The buttered trout seemed to be neither trout nor buttered, and had no flavor at all. The bigolo alle sarde was so salty that it was inedible. When I discretely mentioned this to our waitress, she only argued with us, trying to explain to me what a salted sardine is, and that everyone always complains that this dish is too salty. (Shouldn’t that tell you something about your cooking?) No apology or any offer to improve our experience. After all of this, she laughed at my dad while he was putting on his reading glasses to see the check. Seriously?

We chose the restaurant for its garden courtyard setting. Though there were plenty of tables we were only offered a table in a corner under a cover that was hot and airless. The waitress was very brusque from the outset and we felt rushed through menu choices. The food was average, not bad. The waitress came over many times through our meal coldly asking if everything was “tutto bene” and then disappearing before we could answer…she must have asked six times. Unfortunately this was our first and worst experience dining in Malcesine and have had many better meals elsewhere...

Nettes Lokal mit Innenhof in Malcesine. Wir waren im August 2025 zum Abendessen dort. Ambiente schön, Service freundlich und schnell. Vorab muss man wissen: Es gibt keine Pizza hier. Vorspeise Bruschetta hat uns gut geschmeckt. Fischteller meines Mannes war auch gut. Dessert (3 kleine Teilchen) auch okay. Mein Thunfischsalat war für mich leider ungeniessbar, denn der Thunfisch war ROH, was nicht auf der Karte stand. Konnte ich nicht essen, ich esse auch kein rohes Fleisch. Die Bedienung hat mich bei der Bestellung darauf hingewiesen, dass das "Meal is not cooked", ich sagte, ja, okay, weil ist ja ein Salat und ich dachte, klar, dass ein Salat nicht gekocht ist. Sie meinte damit wohl aber ROH. Das müsste man verständlich dazu sagen und auf der Speisekarte vermerken. Ich konnte also nur die rote/gelbe Paprika-Stückchen essen, die Avocado und das bisschen Eisbergsalat, was sich da noch in der Schüssel befand. Die ganze Schale war ohne Dressing übrigens, das Öl und den Essig musste ich mir selber reinschütten, ist in Italien so üblich. Ein Kellner kam an den Tisch und fragte, ob ich das Essen "changen" möchte, als er sah, dass ich es nicht essen kann. Ich wollte aber keinen Aufstand machen und auch nicht noch ein zweites Essen bestellen (und das evtl. auch noch bezahlen) und hab das gegessen, was ich von dem Teller essen konnte. Das war tatsächlich das enttäuschendste Essen in unserem Urlaub und zudem noch das mit Abstand teuerste. Wir werden nicht wiederkommen. Leider von uns keine Empfehlung. Pasta fatto in casa/Nudeln hausgemacht! Das ist jetzt an die zwanzig Jahre her, dass ich diesen Satz das erste mal las. Das erste mal gegessen haben wir hausgemachte Pasta bei Vittorio, dem Chef der Taverna dei Capitani‘ - in Malcesine. Wo Pasta mit Cozze/Miesmuscheln durchaus nichts Peinliches ist, sondern hervorragend schmeckt, kann man getrost die Karte hoch und runter probieren. Und über die Jahre haben wir uns dieser Aufgabe mit wahrer Hingabe gewidmet. Meine Lieblingsspeisen aus der ‚Frutti del Mare - Sparte ‘, wie Octobus & Co., gegrillt z.B., waren immer frisch und von gutem Geschmack. Mit ‚Zuppa di Orso/Graupensuppe‘ mit Gemüse als Therapeutikum für meinen grappagestressten Magen habe ich zudem noch ein Gericht meiner Thüringer Großmutter wiederentdeckt. Und wer Freude an Exotischem hat, auch die Seespinne mit Gnocchi - im Bild nur die Panzerung als Deco - war ein Gedicht. Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch und ich hoffe, wir bekommen wieder den Tisch unterm Schleppdach und ich sage schon mal „A Domani Vittorio!“ Vi aspettiamo per la prossima visita e spero che tornare al tavolo sotto un tetto tettoia e dico prima, "A Domani Vittorio!" cordiali saluti dalla Bassa Sassonia simone & w.r.pechmann #OnGoogleMaps

Delicious food and finally something different. The filled ravioli with the pear is unforgettable and hard to find this experience in the Italian kitchen! Also one of the best panna cottas since a long grime! I can really recommend this restaurant and it’s beautiful inside ;)
