Osteria delle Quattro Tette — Restaurant in Mantua

Extraordinary food at a place that embodies what an osteria can (and should) be. They do not take reservations and there's a short wait until you can be seated for lunch. While you wait, you can take a picture of the day's menu written out on a blackboard. We didn't have to wait long, and we shared a communal table with a pair of lunch goers. Gorgeous, simple, seasonal, local dishes made perfectly. The house reds, and in particular, the lambrusco, were a perfect complement to our lunch that included savoury crepes, fettucine with seasonal greens, polenta and local fish. Desserts featured an apple cake and chocolate budino. Highly recommend if you happen to be in or even near Mantova (Mantua). And, if you're not, plan a trip so you can stop here for lunch. It's worth it!

Authentic, good cuisine, daily menu written with chalk on a board; wonderful people working there and very fair prices. You can get dishes that are less common elsewhere. Don't expect an English menu, but instead expect that people from neighboring table will recommend you what to eat. It was a wonderful cross-table conversation/experience (i was there for lunch). Great, social place. Would go there again if I would stay...

Osteria di una volta, con tanto di nome pittoresco e affreschi di GÖR, offre cibo mantovano nella forma più pura e tradizionale (nota: a Mantova si mangia BENISSIMO). Piatti come il riso alla pilota, o come il Luccio in salsa, proposti come devono essere e presentati bene e senza inutili orpelli. Il servizio è cortese, spiccio e efficiente, come si addice a un'osteria, il locale è in pieno centro ed è il luogo ideale in cui pranzare per spezzare la giornata in giro per Mantova, non avete abbastanza occhi per vedere tutte le meraviglie di cui è ricolma. Occhio al parcheggio: piazza Sordello e adiacenze, piazza Virgiliana sono tutte zone a striscie blu a pagamento (anche con le app più diffuse), e trovare parcheggio può non essere immediato specie nei giorni di forte afflusso turistico (ma voi tanto arriverete presto perché dovete vedere Mantova). Tornando al locale, è accogliente e genuino, il vino rosso della casa è un Merlot senza difetti che ben accompagna le pietanze, uh, non proprio dietetiche della cucina mantovana. Prezzi onesti, o meglio bassi rispetto alla qualità offerta. Un'ultimo dettaglio: sembra sempre chiuso, grazie alla mancanza di grandi insegne e per l'illuminazione esterna assente, spingete la porta sulla destra dell'unica vetrina, e vi...
