I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Italian Osteria and I must say it was an exceptional culinary journey from start to finish. From the moment I stepped into the cozy ambiance of the restaurant, I knew I was in for a treat.

The menu offered a delightful array of traditional Italian dishes, and I opted for the three-course meal to fully savor the flavors this Osteria had to offer. The first course, an antipasto platter, showcased a tantalizing selection of cured meats, artisanal cheeses, and marinated vegetables. Each bite was a burst of Mediterranean goodness, perfectly complemented by a glass of their recommended wine.

Moving on to the second course, I couldn’t resist trying their homemade pasta dish. The rich aroma of the freshly prepared pasta filled the air, and the first bite transported me to the heart of Italy. The pasta was perfectly al dente, with a harmonious balance of flavors in the accompanying sauce. The attention to detail in every element of the dish was evident and truly impressive.

So we we're actually looking for something more typical for the zone and less touristic. And luckily we found few people who recommended the same place. Well the locls not considering this place in the city center because its about 7 minutes walking from there but completely worth it. So the restuarant itself is very nice and very warm, and they have 3 levels so plenty of room. The service was really great, we had a waiter who explained about every dish. Important to point out that everything we tried was so good, in particular my favorite was "spalla cotta al lambrusco ". Check the photos. The range of prices for the most part is very fair, and the portions are definitely decent. Later on just before we finished we had a little talk with the owner of the place, and he explained that for almost all things they serve its home made. What would help explain the excellent taste! Ci sono stato di sabato sera con la mia ragazza: abbiamo prenotato con largo anticipo un paio di giorni prima e con il senno di poi abbiamo fatto bene, il locale risultava essere davvero pieno. Situato nel pieno centro storico di Mantova al suo interno si respira l'aria di una volta, con le luci soffuse che creano un ambiente intimo e confortevole, pure essendo spazi abbastanza piccoli (noi eravamo nella prima stanza entrati sulla destra). Bellissimo menù, curato in ogni dettaglio, sia per i piatti che per la praticità vera e propria. Noi non abbiamo preso pizze ma quelle che vedevamo passare avevano davvero un bell'aspetto. Una nota dolente mi sento di dirla però, per poi passare alla descrizione del cibo eccellente: i camerieri mal organizzati, si percepiva esserci del malumore tra di loro, ci è capitato di dover chiedere info su una cosa che stavamo mangiando (eccellente per giunta) e in poco tempo abbiamo visto che era diventata una questione tra i camerieri... Tralasciando questo episodio il cibo che abbiamo ordinato era DAVVERO eccellente e di prima qualità, si vede che era fatto tutto in casa con estremo amore e capacità. Questo era esattamente quello che volevamo trovare: tutto molto saporito, gustoso, si percepiva ogni ingrediente, le cipolle caramellate degli antipasti qualcosa di sublime anche per me che non amo la cipolla. I primi piatti squisiti, davvero abbondanti e saporiti. Anche il dolce, la sbrisolona, eccellente, accompagnata con lo zabaione era la morte sua, anche lei abbondante (la crema di cioccolato fondente non a livello della torta che stava accompagnando), ne siamo usciti davvero pieni. Il conto direi più che adeguato. Ci è capitato di intrattenere un breve discorso con quello che sembrava il proprietario che ci ha dato una dritta sull'origine di un piatto che abbiamo mangiato, è stato molto piacevole. Tutto sommato un ottimo posto dove mangiare i piatti tradizionali mantovani. Probabilmente un punto di riferimento per chi va lì...
