As soon as I saw the words “flat white”, I knew I was in for some caffeinated heaven. The pursuit of coffee in Italy is more complicated than it might seem. Asking for a “flat white” is often met with incomprehension so I have usually asked for a cappuccino “doppio”and that has usually given an acceptable result. A flat white (according to me) is a double shot of espresso topped with hot, but not frothy, milk.
All of this was irrelevant as the lady behind the counter knew exactly what to do. The coffee was perfect! It transpires that she was the co-owner and had run a cafe in Tasmania!! Prices are unbeatable: Capuccino for 1,5€, Latte Macchiato for 1,6€. V60 for 3€. They have an option which says "Specialty Coffee for 2€" which I don't quite understand, but their normal cappuccino was good already (I usually drink Specialty Coffee).
The place is comfy, they have a terrace outside, and the service is great. I also loved their playlist (punk-rock-alternative from 2000s).

Read moreI rarely make such bold statements but the coffee we had here was literally THE BEST I’ve EVER had. The croque monsieur and avocado toast with salmon were amazing too. Also, I really appreciated how clean it was — they seem to clean up right after each guest leaves.
