The location is in a residential/business district. It has a nice outdoor space. We stopped by because there was a sign for a happy hour and it was one of the few places open before 7 pm in walking distance of our place. The patio was mostly empty when we arrived so we were seated right away.
When we sat down, the waiter started asking us what we would like to order. We asked about the special and he acted as if he didn’t know what we were talking about. He went over to the sign to look at it. He then told us that we needed to have four people to get the special. This was not written on the sign.
We ordered a pizza for our daughter because she was hungry. Because we don’t speak Italian, we were trying to translate the menu. He asked us three more times in the next few minutes what we wanted to order even though we made it clear we were still trying to understand the menu. He didn’t offer to help, and we both felt rushed to place our order.
The food took a little while to arrive but it was good. The food did not all come out as ordered but we did not mention it. The pizza is very thin, crispy and large. The flavors were mild. Unfortunately, the Chianti is poor and overpriced (28 Euro) for Castellare Chianti Classico 2022). We have had better overseas.
Ironically, after harassing us for our order, he did not visit us one more time to see how everything was. Again, not busy and there was plenty of wait staff helping. We attempted to ask for pepper, but could not get his attention even though he was a few feet away. We finally had to ask a junior member for it. The “waiter” came over and gave it to us but was upset that we asked someone else for it even though we tried several times to get his attention.
Most upsetting part of the experience was that several locals sat down in groups of three and got the happy hour special after we ordered. Wow. We felt like the tourists getting taken advantage of.
When we needed the check , we could not find him again after waiting a while and decided to ask the other wait staff on two separate occasions. After no bill for thirty minutes we went inside to pay our bill. The 73 Euro dinner was one of the most disappointing experiences we’ve had traveling abroad in the past quarter century.
The chef was great, but the service is awful. There are so many great places to go in Milan. Go somewhere else where the service matches...
Read moreWell what can I say. I decided to have a romantic evening with my wife and was not worried about the cost. The food was absolutely amazing I loved it. However the service was what let the place down. The waiter we had didn't seem to want to be working. Maybe he has had a bad day I don't know. We had our main course served without a follow up to see if we needed anything else or maybe we forgot anything. Once we had finished our main course the dishes were cleared without any words like "did you enjoy your meal?" Or "is there anything else I can get for you?" We sat there just drinking our wine with zero interaction by the staff. So we decided to leave. We really wanted to try the tiramisu and that's €7 per serving. So that's €14 lost in sales. Then there would have been coffee €3 each so that's €6 or maybe a whisky €15 each €30 on top. Maybe more. That's at least €59 lost sales and maybe more because of poor service.
So to the owner If you want to continue losing sales and money in your pocket continue with the staff the way they are. If you want to capture the money then train your staff in good customer service. I paid €59 for my bill tonight. When it could have been a minimum of €120 I didn't leave a tip because Tips mean TO INSURE PROMPT SERVICE and tonight I didn't receive any of that. The only person that was friendly was the young lady who gave us a warm welcome as we walked in. I hope...
Io ho cenato all’interno. Davvero complimenti. Ah dimenticavo: rapporto qualità prezzo...
