The end of my trip to Milan, and no other place could’ve been better to wrap it up. I didn’t know the city, and to be honest, I wasn’t that interested in it either. I came for personal reasons. My boyfriend and I ended up here thanks to a personal recommendation, not entirely convinced by the menu. I’m not particularly into seafood, but I decided to take the leap.
The dishes were visually stunning (something you can clearly see in GoogleMaps/Instagram photos) but the taste… with every bite, I was surprised by how balanced each element of the plates was. We took the tasting menu (thank God, a.k.a the chefs, it exists)
A creative menu, clearly youthful in spirit, aiming to innovate and look ahead, but also respecting traditions and the nature of every ingredient. I find it truly captures the energy of the city, which I consider extremely lucky to have a place like Cucina Franca on its streets. The disruption in the food was subtle like small sparks of light, flavour, and pleasant surprises in every dish.
I couldn’t stop talking about it with friends and family. I hadn’t planned on coming back to Milan (it’s not really my kind of holiday city), but I’d return just to have another culinary...
Read moreWent here for dinner. Overall, you can tell the food was made with excellent technique and fresh ingredients, but some can be a hit or miss. The melanzane with tonnato sauce was exceptional, smoked eggplant paired with creamy savory sauce was a hit. The sushi was also great, fried crispy rice with sword fish tartar. Unfortunately, the sauce was too overwhelming you cant even taste the taste of the fish. Same with the diaframma, the chimichurri sauce was too overwhelming and also the potato salad was too sour for my tase, especially because of the abundant chimichurri on the diaframma. And the empanadas was a miss. Filled with onion and provola, it was very light but lack of a kick. If only the onion was caramelized it’d maybe...
Read moreI’ve been staying in Milan for a month now and this is the best meal I’ve had. I thoroughly enjoyed my solo dinner date. I requested the tasting menu and told the waiter that I did not eat beef or pork. I had no idea the menu was mainly vegetarian and seafood! He just brought out beautiful plates of food until I was ready for dessert. The tasting menu is intended for 2 so I just didn’t have all 6 courses. Everything was delicious. The swordfish was the standout dish. So many flavors-just exquisite. The service was also excellent. Make sure to get a reservation, especially for...
