HOSTARIA MEDITERRANEUM — Restaurant in Milan

My husband and I visited Mediterraneum Seafood Hostaria this afternoon. We were grateful that owner, Olimpio Giovannelli, welcomed us despite our arrival just 35 minutes prior to close of the lunch hour. The above and beyond hospitality did not end there. We received wonderful advice on which starters and mains to order, and we were not disappointed once they arrived. We started with the Selezioni Crudo which included tuna tartare, langoustine, cuttlefish, salmon, red mullet, and the fish of the day! Everything on the plate was exceptionally fresh and delicious! We also had the tempura starter which featured artichoke and the fish of the day with a lighter than air emulsification. For our mains we had the fish of the day with a caper, raisins, pinenut garnish and the seared tuna with a chimichurri with oregano seasoning. Both were fantastic! And it all came together with a delicate wine from Campania. We are hoping to find the chance to return before our week in Milano is over--for dinner this time! We reserved a table at Hostaria Mediterraneum for dinner on Saturday evening and it was a great choice. We tried several dishes from their menu and they were all delicious. The restaurant manager took extra care to ensure we had everything we needed, and he also recommended wine options to complement our meals. Namely, sparkling wine for the starters, followed by a red wine that paired well with the main course which was tuna steak. We finished dinner with a complementary dessert. At this point, I must emphasize the special attention that the restaurant manager pays to guests, making sure that everyone has everything they need to enjoy their visit and the food. Apart from the manager, we were served by a waiter, and both spoke very good English. The service was quick and friendly. The interior of the restaurant was cozy and suitable for a variety of situations, such as romantic dates, family gatherings or business dinners. The prices were a bit higher, but this was fully in line with the fresh, high-quality ingredients and seafood. We very much enjoyed our visit and will gladly come again....

First, the value for money is simply phenomenal. Every dish was reasonably priced, especially considering the top-notch quality and portion sizes. The excellence of the ingredients really stood out; you could taste the freshness and care in every bite. A highlight for me was the fantastic raw langoustine fresh pasta. It was a super innovative dish, perfectly balanced with a delightful, slightly lemony flavor that left a lasting impression.

Moreover, the staff at Mediterraneum were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, enhancing the overall dining experience. They were attentive without being overbearing, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening.
