Rita Cocktails — Restaurant in Milan

Great atmosphere, in a beautiful place, with amazing staff, wonderful food and some of the best drinks I’ve had in my life. I would give more stars if I could.

We visited Rita in a late afternoon after walking around Navigli. Sat outside to enjoy the sunset, and you can instantly tell how incredible the atmosphere is, both outside or inside.

As we were seated, Edoardo introduced himself and the house, as he inquired about our preferences in drinks and ingredients. Asked if we would trust his suggestions and shortly after surprised us with two glasses topped with pure craftsmanship. The drinks were elaborate, completely out of the ordinary and perfectly matched our preferences (which were very different btw).

For the second round, same story. And they were even better. I have the strong feeling the drinks were custom made for us, but I never got a chance to examine the menu to see if they were even listed: who needs a menu when there’s wizards on the staff? Haha.

Complimentary appetizers kept coming and coming, and we ordered some skewers that were just perfect.

Wow! What a place! Honestly could not fault a single thing if I tried. The staff here are really incredible. They know every cocktail on the menu and can make tailored recommendations to you based on your preferences - it was like a cocktail consultation! They were also super friendly, always smiling and seemed to love what they do. The drinks were served incredibly quickly each time we ordered. Now let’s talk about the cocktails. They really speak for themselves and were some of the best cocktails we have ever had! Would highly recommend getting their masterpiece, the “Gin Zen”. We also had the Mockingbird, Doctor Wu, Dragoon, Pinky Dinky, and Crocodile Dundee. All were fabulous, but the Mockingbird and Crocodile Dundee were our favourites. We are convinced you could get anything on the menu here and they would be splendid. The cocktails are beautifully balanced and every detail seemed to be deliberate. They thought we needed help deciding because we were taking so long - but it was a which of five superb cocktails will I actually chose?! I’m normally a wine drinker so on the best of nights max out around four - plus this was aperitivo so I had to save myself for Italian wine at dinner. I started with a vegetal celery mezcal number that elevated my conception of how amazing a savory green drink could be - then completely switched directions to a pear mezcal number which was just sweet enough and let the mezcal perfectly smoke through each sip. The aperitivo plate was adorable - we especially loved of all things the carrots. They brought out a lovely cold pea soup served in individual portions. The room is beautiful - also the servers and bartenders are very easy on the eyes - plus talented and efficient. This is the busy cocktail bar institution I will always need to return to...
