We were staying in Milan for a few days and one afternoon we took the metro to go and visit the Naviglio Grande, an area famous for its nightlife. This restaurant is located very close to the subway station. We hadn’t actually planned to stop here, or to eat this early, but their HH was consisting of a charcuterie board (including also some tapas and a homemade focaccia) + a drink for… from €9 to €12 (depending on the size and kind of drink)…. €12 max per person for a charcuterie board AND an alcoholic drink?!?! We live in South Florida, where you’re lucky if you find just a glass of mediocre house wine for $12 (plus tips) in HH!! The restaurant has a beautiful indoor dining area, but the weather was so pleasant that we decided to sit in their big outdoor patio. The staff (who also speaks English) was very friendly and the charcuterie plate was delicious. The portions were also big, and basically we had dinner for just €20 for the two of us!

Having researched a load of restaurants for my first meal in Milan I choose blues canal as they were rated very highly. This was a huge mistake, I ordered a lasagne and it came within less than 5 minutes upon eating the food the center was cold. I immediately informed the waiter who advised we can’t make fresh lasagna on order and he can go back and heat it longer. 13 euros for a microwaved meal no thanks the cheese wasn’t even melted. The owner was also present and made aware of the situation I was not offered an alternative. The restaurant is not authentic it is a place more for drinks which I enjoyed my beer. Another couple also returned their food which shows the consistency of food is not great.

incredibly bad service. they put up a small sign next to the menu saying 'happy beer-day, every wednesday 3,50€ per pint'. we had two beers each (4 in total) and got a bill for 24€. I asked them why, and they showed me that at the bottom of the sign (in dark green) it said (in black and REALLY small letters) from 21:30 to 0:00. when I confronted them I had to talk to the manager for a while, until he told the waiter in italian to give me the money back so I would walk away, thinking I wouldn't understand. I would recommend checking very closely what the offers have to say before ordering.

I arrived on a warm hot sunny Sunday afternoon in beginning of September 2022, after 4pm l was happy with service, experience. Lots to say, so here’s something..

My personality on the offset can be quite direct, sometimes, straight down the line, yet hesitant at times, and i was unsure if i wanted to eat here, inside or outside, and my taste buds takes a little time to try something new, particularly new food in a new country, and as i just flew into Italy the on Saturday the day before i was open to trying somewhere new to eat in the afternoon after seeing the cathedral, and then not leaving it too late getting back to Bergamo.

I go off the cuff, most of what i do is unplanned, emotions, feelings, drive me. So I didn’t pick any of the earlier restaurants I was walking by, but it was fine, and i choose here, the blue canals restaurant.

Ilenia was extremely accommodating, helped me find somewhere to sit outside I was comfortable with, and she set my table.

The choice of food was great, good service from lovely Ilenia, and let me not forget Franco, took more time than was necessary, took good care of me, we spent time chatting and i hope we all got to know each other.

Life is all about the journey, knowing the people you meet.

I would return and recommend if your coming to Milan, go to this area, Blues Canal restaurant and find these guys, you’ll be pleased...

I ordered a roast beef dish and received a few slices of cold cuts on top of a pile of rocket. It was marketed as a full meal. For 14 euros one would reasonably expect a thick hot cut of roast beef instead of a cold handful of sandwich meat marked up several hundred percent. The description of the meal gave no indication of its sorry state and subpar presentation. After traversing Italy over the course of a week and trying amazing delicacies in every city I visited, I can say without any doubt in my mind that this is the saddest excuse for a dining experience that I've experienced in the entire Italian peninsula. If you're so inclined as to spend your money eating here I would strongly advise you to simply spend a few euros on sandwich ingredients at your nearest supermarket and toss them in a haphazard pile. To anyone who happens to read this, best of luck on your travels and don't make the same...
