There are rare moments in travel when everything aligns: place, mood, flavor, time. Sabbia d’Oro was one of those moments.
My husband and I found ourselves returning here several evenings during our stay in Milan. We always ordered well, perhaps instinctively. The candlelight cast a golden softness over the stone walls, and the hush of the room encouraged quiet conversation. It’s rare to find a restaurant that feels both romantic and restorative, but this one does.
The linguine all’astice was a standout. Chewy ribbons of fresh pasta catching every note of the sweet lobster, the briny sea, the softened garlic, and the delicate acidity of the tomato. It was a dish of warmth and depth, comforting but elevated. One of the most memorable meals of my life. ✨
Another evening, I enjoyed the tagliolini al salmone, where smoked salmon and cream wrapped each strand in satin richness. It was delicate and indulgent at once.
The pizza Sabbia d’Oro is also worth seeking out. Creamy buffalo mozzarella and peppery, nutty arugula create a balance of richness and bite.
We also wound up celebrating my birthday here. There was no fanfare - just time, space, and attention.

Read moreLet me tell you about this hidden gem in Naviglio, Milan - Sabbia d'oro. First off, the place has a forno al legno, which, for the uninitiated, is Italian for "we cook so well, your taste buds will sing opera." I tried their pasta and fish cooked directly on wood fire, and let me tell you, it's like a symphony in your mouth. The owner is so friendly that I started wondering if I'd accidentally wandered into a family reunion. He greets you like you're the long-lost cousin who's finally come home. And the ambiance? It's like stepping into a little slice of Italian paradise. Now, I'm not saying the pasta here will solve all your life problems, but it's pretty close. It's the kind of pasta that could potentially bring world peace. And the fish - it's like it took a dance class on the grill. Pure culinary ballet! It's not just a meal; it's like a family gathering where you actually...
Read moreWe went saturday night based on the google reviews. Restaurant is listed as 4.2 but in my opinon its far way from what it has to offer. First of all the service was not good. A lady with a phone in her hands, having a dirty cover was serving the plates like we were there for fast food... hurrying all time. We gave the order for a Tbone- Bisteca Fiorentina and the waiter did not even asked about the cooking, he just dropped the plate and thats it. This restaurant is not good at all. We did not had a good, quite and enjoyable meal. Its far away from the good standarts. Milanese people know much much better. I was very...
