Detailed comment below, but in short: very disappointing, feels like tourist trap...

This restaurant is very old and it must have been good some times ago so we believe this is why it's famous. But certainly not because of the food they propose these days...

To be fair, some dishes were good so I'll start with that. The ravioli with porcini was good and not very expensive but a bit greasy. The desserts were ok, that's it. The risotto with white truffle was ok but overpriced (65 euros) and they don't tell you the price at first... The Milanese veal cutlet was supposed to be served with cherry tomato but actually was with 2 small unripe normal tomatoes, tasteless. A shame in Italy... The osso buco meat was melty but not so special and the risotto tasteless. The whole presentation of this osso buco looked like vomit... We have to say that most of the dishes presentation were not really stylish. The main meat dishes are served with almost no vegetables/ side dishes. Overall, most of the dishes were just ok, not more. This isn't compatible with their prices and the image they want to sell. The serving was ok but some waiters could show more sympathy...

We were 6 people to eat, each of us took one main course and a dessert. This + 1 bottle of wine (40 euros) and 1 bottle of water, total bill was more than 300 euros.

In the end it's an old restaurant which is just surfing on his former fame. For the same price you will find A LOT of other restaurants, much better. You don't even feel the vibes of a century old restaurant... The decoration is just normal, with a lot of wines around. So if you know what is good food, please go somewhere else. If you just want to say to your friends that you ate in very old restaurant then... you are free to do what you want...

If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be completely invisible, Solferino is the perfect place to experience it. The moment we arrived, we stood by the door like lost tourists, waiting for someone—anyone—to acknowledge our existence and show us to a table. Once we finally sat down, the menus arrived… eventually. That was the first red flag.

But the real endurance test began when we tried to order. An hour passed, during which the waiters gracefully ignored us, casually wandering around as if they were on a scenic stroll rather than at work. Maybe they were reenacting a slow-motion film. When the food finally arrived, we quickly realized that the wait hadn’t been worth it. It was so bland that we genuinely struggled to remember what we had eaten once we left. A meal so forgettable, it might as well have been a dream—except dreams are usually more flavorful.

Dessert? Absolutely not. After surviving the main course, we weren’t about to gamble on another disappointment. And to top it all off, they had the audacity to snatch our plates away before we had even finished, as if they were doing us a favor by putting an end to our suffering.

Oh, and let’s talk about the prices—because apparently, mediocrity comes at a premium here. If you enjoy paying fine dining prices for an experience that makes a fast-food drive-thru look like Michelin-star service, then by all means, Solferino is your spot.

For everyone else? Save your time, your patience, and most...

Horrible manager!! Worst treatment I have ever encountered in Italy. He is the bald one wearing a suit. I was so excited and pre booked reservations for me and my husbands 10 year anniversary. First night here from the US and you ruined my whole mood. We called on our way because we were running 10 min late. They were so accommodating and said no problem we are waiting for you. We get there the manager is walking us to our table and asks for my name and says we don’t have a reservation in your name . I said I just called you gave my name and details over the phone (and I’m sure it was him that came to the phone ?!) you acknowledged my reservation and said no problem. I had my google reservation details pulled up prior to walking in, and showed it to him, he still said no we don’t have us yet he seated us ?! The waiter was wonderful. The manager acknowledged every table but ours as if we were being punished ?! Shame on you and your service. What was the reason you only treated us that way even when we remained respectful to you !?!? The first time I ever have bad service in Milan. To bad it was highly recommended by friends. Everything good the restaurant had to offer was overshadowed by your...

Complete and utter disaster - this has been the absolute worst experience ever I had a truly disturbing experience at this restaurant in Milan. As soon as I entered after making a reservation, I was greeted with an icy and dismissive attitude. When I was told that a bottle of water costs 6 euros, I decided not to order it. From that moment on, the waiter, who had a bald head and a mustache, sighed loudly every time I spoke, and aggressively dropped my plates onto the table. Since I was dining alone, I found it difficult to order a whole bottle of wine and instead asked for a glass. However, the waiter tried to serve me a glass priced at 25 euros. When I objected, he offered a cheaper option, but even that was an absurd 12 euros per glass. When serving the wine, there was no basic check of the vintage, and he poured it and walked away with a nonchalant "there, done?" attitude. The service was absolutely appalling, and I have never been treated so poorly in my life. The most shocking moment came when I discovered a live bug in my wine. I explained the issue to the waiter, but he didn’t offer a single apology. He simply took the glass away and brought me another one as if nothing had happened. I was left in complete disbelief and, in my frustration, stayed silent, just waiting for the bill. It took over 30 minutes for the bill to arrive, and during that time, I felt like I was being punished, sitting at the central table while the rest of the customers seemed to be enjoying themselves. To make matters worse, a nearby table commented, "That poor guy is still waiting for his bill," which was some strange form of consolation. The food wasn’t bad, but when compared to the prices, it was not worth the cost. The 36-euro ossobuco, for instance, was overpriced for what it was. The restaurant was filled with affluent-looking foreign tourists, and there was not a single local in sight. Meanwhile, the staff greeted these guests with big smiles and eagerly recommended seasonal truffle dishes, while I, having spent 75 euros on a rather modest meal, felt utterly uncomfortable. If I ever become wealthy and can afford to spend hundreds of euros on a meal without a second thought, maybe I’d return here. But honestly, even then, I have no intention of ever coming back.

Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking in the area. A very cute and cozy place, there were quite a lot of people dining inside. Not to worry if you do not speak Italian, there is an English menu available upon request. The restaurant had a variety of options, with the main focus on pasta (just don't get your hopes up if you're expecting Spaghetti or Bolognese). All of the dishes were exceptional, I especially enjoyed my friend's Seafood Pasta; didn't expect that my own dish would have been my least favourite (it's the red sauce, their signature dish). One thing that was noted was the fact that all the staff are men, all dressed up with their uniform to create a unique experience. Overall, a great evening to wrap up Milan. Perhaps I can save up for my next time I visit the city!

We stumbled here accidentally and found ourselves exactly where we wanted to be: a classic old school Milan spot with all the hits executed well. The risotto Milanese had perfect texture and just the right amount of richness. The arugula salad was covered in big shavings of parmesan and the olive oil served had such intense, delicious aroma. The ravioli with Stracciatella were tender without being meek. The wine!!!! I was so glad to find myself in this tight little spot, surrounded by busy diners, happily eating heaping plates of fried dish and whole fish, deboned, and beautiful contorni of sauteed chicories. If you want to feel steeped in Milan food culture, this is a great spot.
