I hardly ever rate and review restaurants, but I feel I had to leave a comment here to unsuspecting Googlers. I have no problems with this restaurant save for the only thing it's supposed to do: SERVE RAMEN. I'm not a purist or an expert in Japanese cuisine, but I've had enough ramen in my lifetime to be able to tell you that what this restaurant serves is not ramen. It's ramen noodles but in some bland soup base with all kinds of bizarre non-Japanese ingredients that have absolutely nothing to do with ramen. We had a chicken and pork ramen. But what are carrots and French beans doing in ramen?? Where's the stock broth - the quintessential component of any ramen? I wonder if the owners have eve had a ramen in their lives. They obviously do not know what they are doing. If they did not taste like ramen, at least you would expect them to taste good. But no. The soup was bland and tasteless. You can tell it was hastily put together. A terrible disappointment. I wonder if any of the other reviewers had ever had a real ramen. It's either they have not or they are hoaxes. I would have given a zero if Google let me. The owners need to stop marketing their food as...
Read moreThe place is really nicely decorated and the staff super nice.
The food was generally overly salty and not real good. I asked for spicy miso ramen and was recommend the meatball ramen. It’s a salty (too much soy sauce) but tasteless straight noodle ramen with frozen meatballs and some parsley type of vegetable. No egg, not spicy. I had to add almost a quarter can of pepper powder for any flavor.
Donburi was bland as well so we barely ate it.
The chicken wing was too salty as was the chashu appetizer.
The only good thing was the draft Asahi. I wanted sake but they had a very limited selection and kept recommending a bottle. I only wanted by the glass as I was too tired to drink the whole bottle.
Overall, very disappointed and surprised by the high rating.
But again, staff was very...
Read moreZaza's modern decor is a refreshing change from the dated interiors of most other restaurants you find in Italy. Unfortunately that was the only thing I like about Zaza. We had a pork and chicken ramen in shio soup base and they were... nothing like the ramen we've had in various parts of Asia. The soup was way too thin, the pork char siew was bland and the choice of vegetables used - boiled chunks of carrots and french beans were very bizarre ingredient choices. We also had a peek into the kitchen and they were using induction hot plates to cook which was also pretty bizarre for an establishment that looked so reputable. I'll take it that the recipes were tweaked for local tastebuds, not so suitable for...
