Al Grottino — Restaurant in Modena

Al Grottino has been my local pizzeria for several years. The food is always exceptional. The ingredients are excellent quality and the dough is light and perfectly cooked. They do some traditional food from Modena, such as the Vecchia Modena pizza (a famous pizza from the city made with bacon, balsamic vinegar and parmigiano reggiano cheese and mozzarella - I highly recommend!) and also speciality pizzas made with interesting combinations. The service is always reliable, efficient and friendly. The prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are fantastic. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and is located in a popular area of Modena where there are beautiful clothing and accessory boutiques and popular ice cream shops. I can't suggest this place enough - lunch or dinner, a great restaurant for affordable and delicious...

We were luck enough to stay within a short walk of this restaurant, the food is superb. The people running this restaurant are super friendly and very helpful. We ate here twice on our 4 day trip and both meals were amazing. The Prosciutto and Parmigiano starter was excellent, I had the one of the specials a Calzone and my mum had Spagetti Vongole which was loaded with so many clams. The draught beer was good and the white wine was excellent (according to mum) this was a recommendation by the waiter. On our second visit I had the Tortellini which was fantastic, Mum had the Vongole again as she has talk about it for 2 days. The friendly service, great food and alfresco dining (in a partially closed street) was first class and to top if off the best expresso I had in Modena. Thank you Al Grottino, I cannot recommend this place...

Pessima esperienza, avrei dato ZERO stelle. Nonostante sia una cliente abituale perché abito nei dintorni, con stasera ho chiuso definitivamente con questo posto. Alle 18.30 ordino le pizze e un fritto da asporto per ritirarle alle 20. Arrivo alle 19.58 mi viene dato il fritto ma non le pizze. Chiedo e sollecito mille volte per le pizze e nulla. Aspetto , vedo gente di me entrare ordinare da asporto e uscire con le pizze …. Io ancora lì ad aspettare davanti la cassa con il fritto in mano e dopo 25minuti di attesa ho richiesto delle pizze e mi dicevano “stanno uscendo” ma non usciva nulla. Al che me ne stavo per andare e ho giustamente detto che me ne sarei andata e che il fritto ormai era freddo e faceva schifo. Dopo 28minuti di attesa arrivano le famose pizze! Arrivata a casa il fritto era schifoso , freddo (la pizza fritta del fritto era immangiabile) . Mi dispiace perché capisco che può succedere un inconveniente ma almeno o mi avvisate che c’è del ritardo e mi date tutto insieme dopo , così ricevo tutto caldo oppure mi venite incontro in qualche modo rifacendomi il fritto , invece nessuno che si è scusato e nessuno che ha avuto tatto… ma bensì ti prendono in giro (dopo che ti lamenti a voce alta ) dicendoti buona serata come se nulla fosse successo. Mai piu!
