Went there two times because of great reviews of the food, the wine and the atmosphere. On the first night, around 7pm, I was told all the tables were booked, in spite all of them were empty. It's possible. So I went back the next day at 5pm, to try to make a reservation. Information on the restaurant door states that the place is open everyday from 11h30 to 2am. This day it was closed, but a man came to the door as he saw me standing at the door. He opened it briefly an just said "it's closed", and closed the door before I could reply. Reply to the owner response: I never wanted to tell anyone how to run a business. I'm just sharing my disappointment of having high expectations to have dinner on my birthday, and the following day, and been poorly treated. Don't worry about me, I unfortunately won't be back to Modena any soon. Such a nice city, with lovely people. And there is no chance of coming back to this restaurant. I'm sure there are hundreds of nicer places to eat. I'm sorry to have bothered you, Mr owner, with my poor will to have dinner. New response to our beloved owner: I really don't understand why Mr owner care so much about my description of his poor service. I mean, I know there are several other reviews, from different people and in different times, stating that he doesn't care to provide information or even welcome costumers. Just keep mistreating people that go to your restaurant. Just keep getting truly bad reviews about the service you provide. You don't have to explain anything. I just want to warn other visitors about your poor service, maybe someone will avoid wasting their time going to your restaurant that opens everyday, but some days is closed for no reason that we know. Don't worry about me, just keep on been happy.

Possibly one of the most amazing places I have visited in Modena, or wider Italy. You can see the authenticity of the place as soon as you walk in. The (what I’m assuming was) owner welcomed us warmly, sat us down, helped with the choice of food and drink. The pasta and gnocchi was literally melting in my mouth - it was the best pasta I have ever had in my life. I’m 30 and I eat a lot of pasta! People working in the restaurant as well as the customers, who we think may have been local, were the most friendly people we could have asked to sit next to. They sang along to a guitar, played beautifully, introduced us to a local desert (Salame al cioccolato), which they kindly shared with us. What an absolutely incredible and one of a lifetime experience.

La Brusca is easily the best Osteria in all of Modena. Fabrizio, the kind owner of this beautiful little joint, always welcomes you with a smile and a perfect pasta recommendation for the day. If you take that and add a glass of a refreshing Lambrusco I guarantee you'll come back soon enough. We ended up having dinner here every single night, trying his different pastas - so many vegetarian options! - and practicing our Italian with him and his smiley helper. Great prices, good portions and amazing attention. Make sure to visit if you're ever around Modena and when in doubt; go for the traditional ricotta Tortellini with the local Balsámico. Perfetto!

Worst service and attitude ever! We arrived at 5 pm and nowhere did it mention that the restaurant is closed, not even on the door sign. The owner was standing faraway and when I asked if we can eat politely in Italian, he responded in a very rude manner that food is served 6.30 PM. We left and returned at 7 pm, I went into the shop and greeting the owner and asking if we can sit down to eat, he said everything is booked and the place was literally empty, there were only 4 occupied tables outside and only one reservation sign on a table. He completely dismissed me and told me to go to another restaurant nearby, and when I asked how can I reserve a table then, he refused to answer. I am quite shocked with the manner when all we wanted was to try the food that was recommended from previous reviews.

Update:

Thank you insert owner's name for taking the time not to apologize, but to say I'm full of myself. Not surprised seeing how you responded to prior...
