Chinè Monopoli — Restaurant in Monopoli

We visited this restaurant twice. Our first experience was decent, except for the fact that one of the dishes was served 30 minutes before the pizzas we ordered which meant we could not enjoy all our meals together. That being said, I enjoyed the Bresaola pizza and we decided to give the restaurant a second chance.

However our second visit was HIGHLY disappointing. On arrival we were ignored by staff before eventually being seated inside. The attitude of the waitress was highly rude and added to the unpleasant atmosphere of the restaurant. Upon ordering we waited up to an hour for our food and noticed all the tables around us were waiting for just as long if not longer. Once we finished our meal the manager came over immediately and placed the bill down on the table and without even addressing us. We were not even offered dessert or drinks or asked if we needed anything else. When I tried to pay the manager took the receipt and then proceeded to engage in conversation with another colleague while I was left standing there. My family and I arrived today, August 19th 2025, to the restaurant around 1:00 pm. Since there were empty tables on the exterior terrace and no waiters around at that moment, we decided to sit down and wait at a table for four people. Suddenly, the waiter started screaming at us in English: “Are you four?” We answered in Italian (since we also speak Italian), and shockingly, he began insulting us in Italian just because we sat down without his “permission.”

I told him we were tourists, and instead of being understanding, he yelled even louder, shouting: “Me ne frego che siete turisti,” “andate via, vaffanculo” — and then literally kicked us out of the restaurant.

This is absolutely unacceptable and the most disrespectful way to treat visitors. We are tourists, not supposed to know the so-called “rules” of the restaurant, and instead of helping us, he humiliated us.

We booked Chiné for our last night because of all the hype, but it was such a disappointment.

I never complain about pizza, even if its boring but this was really bland and lacked flavour.

I'm not sure if it was a bad day for them or these review are of people that have always had bad pizza.

The staff were also extremely rushed no one knew which table they were serving. At the end the lady was pushy for us to leave and asked if she could bring the bill. However she forgot and 20 mins later we asked another member of staff. He brought the bill and straight after his collegue brought another bill, but when we opened the book it was the change for someone elses payment.

Later in the night my partner realised they gave us the wrong receipt. Despite paying the correct amount. You can really see the lack of care in the pizza & the customer service.
