Don’t believe the hype. From antipasti to primi and secondi, across several varying dishes, nothing rose to the level of delicious. The food was either bland or oversalted. Service was terrible. We arrived at 730 right at opening. Table for three. After water, a glass of wine, and the unremarkable antipasti were served, we were totally forgotten. I had asked for a second glass of wine to accompany the primi course. Forgotten. The main courses arrived and the owner rushed over and literally threw the plates onto the table. I asked again for wine and it was hurriedly sloshed into my glass. We wanted more water which was not offered. We didn’t stay for dessert. I often marvel at how highly rated restaurants turn out to be utterly disappointing. We visited Monopoli seven years ago. It was a sleepy, nearly deserted town. It’s now jam packed with tourists and restaurants like Metae can’t keep apace. Mediocre food and service that was so rushed and perfunctory, it rose to the...
Read moreThis restaurant in Monopoli is an absolute must. The food was delicious, and the wine Terre Blanche Bombino Bianco was recommended by the owner Enzo and it was perfect with our meal.. We had the pasta filled with ricotta, lemon, in a seafood bisque and topped with fresh prawn carpaccio. It was simply delicious, we wiped the plate clean with the fresh bread. . We also had the eggplant with panagratto which was very flavoursome. For dessert we had the tiramisù which had amaretto was light and delicious, mascarpone was so fresh.
The owner Enzo is so passionate about his restaurant and his menu. He made sure we were happy throughout our meal and really helped is pick the right wine to match our meal.
The service and attention to detail is so evident. We even had a backer under the table to place our handbags in.

Read moreHidden gem in Monopoly. Small cosy a bit fancy restaurant with incredible nice and helpful staff. They asked us for allergies right away so I assume they can adjust the menu if you need to. You can taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients in every dish, especially the fish. Portions are a bit smaller so I would recommend tasting more items on the menu but it’s worth it. We had the aubergine for appetiser, for primi we picked fresh pasta with ricotta filling, very well balanced meal, the filling was amazing. For piaty we had the red drum fish with peas, the texture of the fish and combination of flavours were amazing. For desserts we tried both tiramisu and panna cotta. The tiramisu was the best tiramisu I had in my life. It was both traditional and innovative. It’s a must try. We didn’t tried wine but they had wide...
