Pizzosteria L'isola che non c'è — Restaurant in Monopoli

We sat outside so the atmosphere was great and the weather was lovely. The food was not however. I ordered a carbonara. When it arrived it was obvious that the egg had scrambled which I confirmed with a mouthful. I explained to the wait staff that the egg had scrambled and she replied "Not my problem". There was no offer of another dish off the menu and even if there had been, I would have chosen to decline. I was with a group of five others whose meals were average at best. When we went to pay, there was no deduction for the returned dish and I insisted that I not have to pay for it. Eventually, the staff agreed to take 10 euros off the total cost. The carbonara was, I think from memory 13 euros. When we were leaving, the staff were all sniggering and making fun of me. I certainly would not recommend this restaurant. They had the opportunity to make things right twice. They could have offered me something else off the menu and they could have reduced the price without me having to ask. An old lady with curly hair took our order. I showed her the photo and asked for the pasta with clams and oysters and she said OK with tomatoes. But when it came, there was no one oyster or clam.She said she didn't have oysters or clams and I had to accept the dish she served me. Why didn't she tell me when I showed her the photo? Instead, she served me a completely different pasta and I had to accept it. There was very little fried seafood and it was nothing like the picture on the menu. I went to this restaurant with my family and we had the most fantastic meal, everyone ordered something different and we shared our food. Everything from the service, the food, the wine and of course the lemoncelli was absolutely wonderful. The staff were amazing and made our night one to remember. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants fantastic tasting food and an abundance of ambience. It's also in a very busy street which adds to the experience of eating out in Italy.
