Ristorante GioviAle — Restaurant in Montecatini Terme

A very disappointing experience on a Wednesday evening, especially after seeing all the positive reviews. Perhaps some key staff were absent, otherwise this would be hard to explain.

We shared a seafood pasta dish to start and then a bistecca, both of which came highly recommended by the waiter.

The pasta was bland, with an uninspired sauce and overcooked, tired-tasting seafood. However, the steak was the worst part. We asked for medium and received an almost purple result that was impossibly tough to cut through, let alone eat. Both the meat quality and the preparation were poor.

We sent it back for further cooking and received back meat with seared edges, but still mostly raw on the inside. The steak came with a paltry side of mushy, supposedly grilled vegetables.

Staff seemed aware the steak was far short of the mark when they cleared the table.

Restaurant is ok with a nice garden, pretty. Food is ok, the presentation of the dishes could be improved a lot tho, looks a bite like cantine dishes, the bread is a bit dry and taste like it was made the previous day to me, some fish and meat are off the menu but at least it means that the product are fresh I guess which is a good thing. the fish is good but overcooked so a bit dry. Il ristorante è molto bello e gradevole, faceva volto fredo e il personale che serviva lasciava un po' a desiderare... nove tavoli con i clienti ma grande difficoltà nel servire tutti, personale lontano dal cliente, molto impersonale... Durante tutta la nostra cena c'era un giovane uomo che finora ha fotografato i piatti del ristorante senza problemi, quello che succede è che il flash era orribile, lei ha fatto diverse foto a vari piatti e ogni volta con un flash in faccia, fastidio in un momento di festa tra amici, noi eravamo in 7 e uno di noi ha ordinato un altro piatto, una frittura di mare.Quando abbiamo finito il primo piatto, il ragazzo che ci ha servito ha detto che avrebbe portato il secondo, ci sono voluti dai 10 ai 15 minuti di attesa, dovevamo ricordarci di portare il piatto... Il voto per questo piatto è stato un sette, il pesce ed i gamberetti erano molto buoni, nonostante non fossero salati, e la frittura era molto presente rendendo il cibo molto oleoso. .
