The interior of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The basement is where you want to be. But I would probably save your money for another restaurant that isn’t trying to oversell you on the decor. First off it was overwhelming how many dishes were at the table when we were seated it was as if we were going to be receiving a French cuisine style menu. There was a tile on the table which served as a placemat while during dining turned into more of an obstruction. The food was OK. Appetizers were not as written on the menu. The focaccia we ordered mention that it was going to have anchovy, but had octopus instead. It is also very weird as other reviewers have mentioned all of the salts and condiments they give you. After all of that, I would say the biggest take away was how beautiful every detail was taken into the plate where but the menu is printed on plastic inserts that look 6 years old. I do not think I would come back as I would rather go to other Osteria’s in the area that are newer and offering way more with less...

Booked here for Valentine’s Day following recommendations from local friends. The place was extremely full and they seemed to be struggling. Our main course took ages to be served and it was awful. My fiancée sent her vongole back as they were both cold and overcooked. I managed to finish my salmon although it was one of the most uninspiring dishes I’ve had in a long time. They promised to bring new vongole but it took so long that we eventually gave up and told them not to bother.

Then there’s the atmosphere. There’s a beautiful dining room downstairs. We were not placed there. We were sat upstairs, right by the door. It was cold, unromantic and stank! Smoke billowing out of the kitchen stinking of fish. My coat will smell of fish for days.

I see many good reviews so can only assume they were having a bad day due to overbooking.

Amazed this restaurant has so many good reviews. I almost never write a bad review because I always think I might have caught someone on a bad day but I disliked my entire experience here. Our waiter made us feel very pressured and we didn't feel welcomed at all. The cooking felt absolutely loveless, my husband's potatoes had spent about two hours too long in the oven. All of it was lukewarm and even though it was 'ok' it was definitely nothing to write home about. Everything needed more salt but even though there's a caddy with four (!) Different types of salt placed on your table, none of the salt mills actually worked because of the fact old salt was stuck in them and this hadn't been cleaned out. So glad a local recommended this spot as one of their favorites in the neighborhood. The staff was warm and welcoming and the food and wine were excellent. Really enjoyed the Zuccotto di ricotta e melanzane, an antipasto of delicate eggplant layered with fresh and creamy ricotta. One of the days special was a spaghetti vongole with added lemon and pistachio elements that took it to a whole other level of deliciousness. The staff helpfully suggested wine that paired beautifully. In addition a big thank you for their polite but clear commitment to COVID regulations including checking for green passes at the door, insisting on masks when not at the table and making sure tables were spaced appropriately. This made dining feel safe and even more enjoyable. Compliments to the chef and the whole Borbonika team for a top-notch experience.

Bereits beim Betreten des kleinen, aber stilvoll eingerichteten Restaurants wird man freundlich empfangen. Die Atmosphäre ist angenehm intim, dennoch bietet der Raum genügend Platz, um sich in Ruhe unterhalten zu können, ohne dass der Geräuschpegel störend wirkt. Die Bedienung war außergewöhnlich aufmerksam, dabei nie aufdringlich, und überzeugte zudem durch hervorragende Englischkenntnisse – in Neapel keine Selbstverständlichkeit. Jeder Gang wurde im Detail erklärt, inklusive Hintergrundinformationen zu Zutaten, Zubereitung und kulinarischen Traditionen. Bereits der Gruß aus der Küche setzte den Ton: liebevoll angerichtet, fein abgeschmeckt und eine gelungene Einstimmung auf das, was folgen sollte. Beim Aperitivo zeigte sich die erste große Stärke des Hauses: die Präsentation. Jedes Gericht ist optisch ein kleines Kunstwerk – modern interpretiert, aber mit Respekt vor den klassischen neapolitanischen Wurzeln. Geschmacklich weiß die Küche ebenfalls zu überzeugen: Die Aromen sind klar definiert, perfekt ausbalanciert und zeigen eine beeindruckende handwerkliche Präzision. Best meal we had in Italy. The calamari here beats every other ones we had in other restaurants during this trip to Italy. The squid was lightly fried and the fresh flavor was well preserved. The pasta with potato was too exotic for me but my friend loved it. The environment of the restaurant, although in a basement, was good and cozy in general.
