We are left with conflicted feelings after our visit to Essincia a couple of weeks ago. On the one hand the food is phenomenal. The creative, playful, precise and delicious dishes that are composed in this kitchen can easily nominate this place for a Michelin star. On other hand, falsely inflated bill, the lack of a vegetarian tasting manu, the noticable lack of a sommelier and an over crowded dinning hall leaves us wondering how did it ever got a mention on that guide to begin with. We arrived at Essencia and were seated in the upstairs dinning hall that even though wasn't full still felt over crowded and so we had to whisper in order to retain some privacy in our conversation. After explained to us, by our wonderful waitress, that there is no vegetarian tasting manu option, we proceeded to order some dishes and a bottle of wine from a cumbersome online manu. The food, as written above was phenomenal. One dish in particular blew our minds. It is a roasted veggies with fruit, seaweed and cauliflower cream dish that is not in the manu and is nothing less than perfect. However to our great surprise, upon receiving the bill we noticed that the prices of some dishes are not consisted with their prices at the manu and are raised up. I don't know if this is the restaurant attempt to compromise for the 20% discount they offer us when we made our reservation but it is extremely disrespectful approach toward the customers. We can only hope that the staff and owners of this place will adopt something from this type of reviews so in our next visit the only thing we will write about will be the...

Guys, if you don't like offering 20% on "The Fork" app and end up doing little tricks, stop offering it...
We were super excited to visit this restaurant after reading the reviews. We ordered a 7-course tasting menu and while 4 of the dishes were delicious, we were surprised about two things. The two desserts was rather simplistic and not anything to write home about - a torijas and scoop of chocolate ice cream and a small serving of two petit fours.
We never got 7 courses, we got 6 (if not only 5 real courses).. The very first thing we got was an appetizer which every guest gets for free after ordering. We thought we missed a dish and brought this to their attention, but no no, the appetizer was the first course (although they said it wasn't when they served it)
Two small petit fours (a small biscuit and a tiny cake) to count as a course (dessert)? That was surprising
At the end of our dinner, it almost seemed like the two female waiters were ignoring us. We still had a little bit of wine left, but we had to ask for it when also asking for the bill
We had a 20% discount offer from booking through the The Fork (on the entire bill) - we got €20 discount, not 20%, which meant we got about €4 less discount (not a big thing, but an annoyance with all the other things in mind)
All in all, a disappointing experience, despite the fact that the food is obviously very good for the most part. Please consider removing the 20% discount if you can't keep the service level and...
Read moreThe atmosphere is very cosy, romantic and beautiful however it was very warm. I think the AC was not working. Anyways i was sweating the whole time. The menu which was online. Very bad quality hosted on a cheap website. Very difficult to read. The proseco astro very nice, with a fruity taste. The bread was good with a special curray bread which was tasty The eggplant was tasty, not very special though but the parmesan cream was a very good combination The Salomon with cream fresh was delicious The risotto was okay a little sour but very well salted The fish was lacking salt. Didn’t really enjoy that dish. We got a cheese tasting plate. With 4 small different types of cheese. I didn’t understand why would this be considered a meal ? I can buy my own cheese and eat it home. No need for a restaurant chef to put it on a plate for me. The sorbet tasted good with a combination of different flavours. The last desert was a chocolate cake with chocolate sorbet and jam. Which was definitely okey. Nothing very special. The service was very good. The woman who served us was very nice and friendly....
