I am stuffed to bursting!

This place was a total diamond. I was the only non local in there, and it was €12 for primi, secundi and contorni (in my case gnocchi alla Sorrentina, baked provola - the only vegetarian second courses were that or baked scarmoza - and parmigiana de melanzane. Which is one of my favourite things!) The prices also includes bread.

€14 (£11.57) including a Peroni. Incredible value.

Busy, buzzy, fast paced but efficiently friendly. Get seated on a table with other people, your food comes pretty much all at once and very swiftly, stuff it all in your face as quickly as you are able, pay and leave. A moment to digest will have to be done outside!

The zucchini contorno looked delicious, so I'm going to have to come back another day to try that too (well, and just hope that it is serving, because the menu changes daily).

Local, good-value, high-turnover restaurants focused on home-style cooking are found in many cities. Of all the ones I remember visiting (in Britain, France, and Italy) this is easily the best: for its menus, its quality, its ambience, its feeling of being part of the area. The staff are rushed off their feet but still show humanity. You have to write your own order on a piece of card with a pen. Why not? It added to the restaurant’s individual feel. Even better: the bread, the local (red) wine, and the mineral water were exceptionally good for the price point. It was a great touch; one which lets down so many other places.
