This place is for anyone who wants a true Neapolitan experience, away from the overwhelming presence of tourists or the commercial (but still fairly authentic) atmosphere in most restaurants in Via Toledo or Centro Storico. This business is Napoli at its core, a place that prides itself in the produce and is not about the money. One of the best experiences I've had in my life, a simple and humble service where even if you're a foreigner, you're treated like a local and there's no arse-licking (which people from the other side of the pond may be more accustomed to), and the flavours are a testament to the passion and dedication these people have to their regional food - not just as an art, but as part of their everyday life.

I've been seeing the pizzaiuolo for some time on social media and wanted to make sure to pay his place a visit when I come to Napoli. I had to admit, he is charismatic, a genuine guy born and raised in the city, speaks with the dialect, no grandiose demeanour which is typically shown by other Neapolitan celebrity chefs and his product looked top tier in the content, so I was pretty much won over prior to going. Nonetheless, I tried to be as unbiased as possible when I finally got there. I've had many great pizzas in Campania and also in my home country, Malta (which happens to be close enough to Italy for Neapolitan restaurants to get the produce while it's still fresh and maintain the quality of their product) and I can't just flat out say it's the best as personally, I don't feel that there's any such thing as "the best pizza", but it's definitely up there with the very best I've had. What may give it the edge to others in my opinion is the fact that you are in the area of Napoli where you are closer to the locals' everyday life. It also feels like the way the pizza is made is so effortless that you take a liking to it more so than the bigger names in the city, that still give out excellent quality but feel like a standard was set to everyone working there (which is a good thing, but still takes away the element of the true creator of the product). Here, you can taste the individual's passion for the craft, the authenticity, the Neapolitan identity...everything you would want to expect if you really want to immerse yourself in every aspect of the local culture.

This place also made me reconsider my opinion of Neapolitan pizza, as I normally prefer the 'cornicione' or 'pizza contemporanea' (seemingly thick, yet fluffy crust) than the Da Michele style Neapolitan (thin crust and tends to have a wetter base). Here, there is no particular focus on what dimensions the crust has, the focus is on what is invoked by the combination of flavours in each pizza and authenticity in the product, all while keeping it simple.

As good as a place may be for me, I never feel compelled to write a review this long to express my admiration. This one was worth that and more. No doubt that this place is on my to-do list every time I...

Seriously Life-Changing Bites in Napoli ❣️

Non ho parole, seriously ! I am beyond grateful for having chosen Pizzeria Nennella for lunch on my recent trip to Napoli. Knowing I had a long day ahead, I decided to stop by on my way to the hotel, arriving around noon just as they opened for lunch. I was the first one there, and what an experience it turned out to be!

I ordered one of their pizzas featuring mozzarella di bufala, and it arrived in no time at all. In my mind, I was expecting a simple pizza: dough, sauce, cheese. But what materialized before me was something made out of dreams: fresh, perfectly crafted dough, generously layered with creamy RICOTTA DI BUFALA, savory SALAME, then more dough, vibrant tomato sauce, melted cheese, and fresh basil.

Jesus take the wheel! was my immediate thought.

Despite how hot the pizza was, I honestly couldn't wait for that first bite. It was a truly life-changing culinary experience. Adding some rich olio di peperoncino was an absolutely amazing touch that elevated it even further.

Beyond the phenomenal food, the staff at Pizzeria Nennella were beyond wonderful. I felt incredibly taken care of throughout my visit. I cannot recommend this place enough and I eagerly look forward to returning to Naples and coming back for more of these...

We came here with high hopes given the good reviews, but found ourselves with a disappointing dining experience. Perhaps the language barrier played a part? The Italian customers seemed to have a good time, whereas we non-Italian-speaking tourists felt isolated in a world of our own. So if you’re not Italian, I’d suggest going somewhere else - there are many better options in Naples

The seating area was very cramped. The pizza was average and decently priced, nothing too spectacular, but the service (which wasn’t free by the way, cost €1/person) was lacklustre. Look at how I was served my “glass of house wine”! Appalling!

If this is the definition of “authentic” Italian pizzeria experience, then perhaps I should’ve gone for something more contemporary…Also, take note that they...
