A total disappointment from the very beginning
I was walking around Naples as a tourist and the restaurant caught my attention because it looked beautiful from the outside. We walked in without a reservation — as often happens when traveling — and from the very first moment, the staff was rude and dismissive. The hostess seemed confused, insisting my reservation was half an hour later… even though I didn’t have a reservation at all. It made no sense.
When I asked how many reservations were ahead of us and how long we would have to wait, the waiter replied in a rude and abrupt tone, as if to shut me up, saying he had to prioritize reservations. I completely understand that. But that’s not what I was asking — I simply wanted to know the wait time, not jump the line.
We left and went to the restaurant right next door, Serpentone DGL, and had a completely different experience: friendly service, kind waiter, and absolutely no xenophobic attitude.
This is not about Neapolitan culture — which I’ve enjoyed a lot in other places — or about being a tourist. It’s about basic respect. If you have a restaurant in a tourist area, the least you can do is be polite to people, regardless of where they’re from. If you can’t manage that, you should seriously rethink your...
Read moreOk, here I go! If you want some amazing food and service, after a beautiful walk along the beach. Or if you are looking for food made out of fresh ingredients and some unique dishes that change, based on what they have (catch of the day). Or if you want to fall in love with one of their signature dishes, then this is thé place in Napels you want, wait..... Need to go to!
Their food is unparalleled, it is not only full of flavor, but how they present their dishes in combination with their low prices, it is like a Italian match made in heaven.
We eat and ate all around the word and I can say" "the dishes we had here, were absolutely top notch" .
Thank you antichi sapori partenopei and staff for an amazing experience and putting a smile on my face multiple times (that is what food should be all about).
Thank you for a wonderfull night out with my misses, and thanks for you skills and your professionality giving us a secure feeling in this weird time of corona and a warm welcome at the same time.
Thanks for all that delicous, fresh food! Fresh food, prepared with some great ingredients, a lot of love and a tiny bit of magic, from the chef - AKA a Magician!
Grazie! We will come...
Read moreFirst of all, when you find an interesting wine on the printed (! - why do they print it? Hard to adapt, nobody does that) wine list and it's not available, you are disappointed. When you find that the alternative wine is also out of stock, you get angry. The food is not good at all: octopus salad without taste and of rubber consistence, the gnocchi killed in an overflow of smoked provolone and a not at all tasty sauce, the squid an abomination in texture and taste, but containing the sepia - you will find out when it gets crunchy between your teeth. And it is decorated with spots of the same pea sauce I had with the octopus, with some no taste at all mayonnaise, and some tomato sauce that seemed to be the same as the one with the gnocchi - without the provolone.
In general, a tourist trap. No Italians around. Avoid. There are much better restaurants in Naples, the reviews are not reflecting the...
