Big disappointment Restaurant proudly displays about 5 Michelin Guide stickers on its door, latest one dated 2020. Nothing on the service side or what is described in the next points could indicate that to be reality even in the slightest. â¨Most of (far more than half) the dishes on the menu were not available. We received the âNot possibleâ response to almost everything we asked from the menu. Including the house wine! So we were given certain options of what we can order as food, as well as options of wine by the bottle only. â¨BIG HIDDEN ASPECT, which is also mentioned in numerous other reviews for this place: PRICES ARE DIFFERENT, HIDDEN AND NOT TRANSPARENT. In the menu the âchefs dishâ in the Pasta section was 10âŹ. We selected one such dish, showing it specifically on the menu, pointing at the line with 10âŹ. Waiter described what the chefs dish is that day, which included pasta with tomatoes and shrimp. Not saying anything about the price, or the fact that it is not the same âchefs dishâ as they mean in the menu. We received a truly amazing pasta, no doubt, but in the end we were charged 20⏠instead. Nothing on the menu, apart from lobster pasta, was even close to 20âŹ. When we asked why they didnât notify us of price difference we received the following response âIn the menu Chefs special was with capers and olives, but you got one with big fresh shrimp.â. None of that was written in the menu, nor mentioned by the waiter, when we ordered chefs dish from the menu. When we tried to explain our surprise about the price, we shortly received a snappy comment from the waiter, saying â20⏠is not expensiveâ. Further discussions resulted in waiter turning around and walking away. â¨Food was great indeed, but the experience was the most horrible we had in multiple visits to Napoli and dining...
Read moreStay away! A tourist trap with a lying, pushy, owner. The street is cute and all and the food was fine but thatâs the end of the charm. The owner is super pushy and tries to make ârecommendationsâ which are not in the menu to charge more. Kept trying to push appetizers and pasta dishes on us. We knew what we wanted so we just ordered that and he angrily took the menus away and ignored us after. Thankfully, the waiter that brought our stuff wasnât him. At the end when he brought the bill he told us that he âdidnât include the service fee for us. So any tips were for himâ. Shouldnât that have gone to our server? I told him I didnât have cash so not to take away the service fee and he took my card anyway. He comes back and is uncomfortably hovering and staring at me asking me if tip was in cash. When I reminded him that I told him I didnât have cash so not to take the service fee away, he angrily said âwhereâs my tip?â And physically stopped us from leaving with his hand in my arm. He said âokay 5 euro thenâ and I told him that I paid with card. He said âmaybe in America you eat and not pay for service but not in Italy. Get outâ and physically shoved me out. I checked my receipt and he had not removed the service charge, I paid for it anyway and heâs a liar. Stay far away. We tried the other restaurants literally around him and they were great. Stay away from ANTICA TRATTORIA...
Read moreCute alley, though one of many on this neighborhood. They were able to accommodate our group of 6 on a Friday evening. HoweverâŚserver had his best âcharm the touristâ act going. We asked about pasta dishes without meat and he explained a fusilli dish âto shareâwhich we had not seen on the menu. We ordered that dish in addition to 2 others and a couple salads. Asked for house wine and weâre told no good, upsold us to a more expensive bottle which was fine, it was still reasonable. Food arrived, we were surprised to be served 4 fusilli dishes in addition to the other items ordered. Pasta dishes were very good. Salads basic. Annoying and loud street singer over our shoulder for half the meal made it difficult to converse. Bill arrived, fusilli dishes were $17 euro each, vs other pasta at 10. A bit of a shock. 2 euro each for two bottles of tap water. Then..server comes and asks for his tip. Basically harassed us and was displeased with the euros we left for him which were in addition to the 2 euro per person âcoverâ charge with the meal. Later that night 2 of our party, who ate the pasta with meat dish, became briefly, violently Iâll. I knew we were in a tourist area, we were hungry and tired after a long day of travel. Was accepting of the cost given the circumstances yet the server harassment for a tip along with others getting sick overnight left a negative impression to...
